[Z06] Price Check: 2009 Z06 with 110k miles

I think if the car has 110k on it and never had an issue with the heads, the heads are probably fine. I'm sure if something was gonna happen, it would have happened by now. That being said, its too much $$. I wouldn't go over 23k.

I have one that just passed 116k on the clock. Have had zero issues and runs no different than the brand new 07 I had. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy one with the same or even more miles, I’d offer a couple K less, as I would with any car though.

Thanks for the responses guys. TBH, if the compression and leak down test come back good, I wouldn't see an issue with it. I could just drive it and replace things as they break. I'm not super keen on a lower mileage Z06 anyhow, because back when I had my super clean and pristine 1 owner '08 C6Z, I noticed the transmission would grind in reverse and it sometimes popped out of 5th in WOT (fixed it though with new tranny fluid). Plus the wheel bearings were already getting kind of shot. And my shocks/struts were leaking (I should add that I occasionally track my cars).
Anyhow, I've been playing with the idea of grabbing it at $24k then buying a forged short block for $8k and a ACT dual-plate and just putting it in... Then I'd have essentially a new and stronger motor and be $24k base price + $10k short block/clutch + $5k labor = $39k into the car. I can upgrade the trans for another $3k labor/parts when that goes out too, leaving me at $42k total invested for a car that's more durable than a stock Z06.
Or I can avoid the potential head aches of the custom work and get a low mileage Z06 for high 30's or low 40's.
Anyhow, still playing around with both ideas. I am going to make another thread soon talking about engine build possibilities. Thanks again for the responses guys!
EDIT: never mind, getting a forged short block is ridiculous for my power level of 550 RWHP. Probs just gonna take everyone's advice and find a lower mileage Z.

I wouldn't sweat that 110 k mile ls7..
The internet is full of scaring people into doing their heads over...
It's less than 6 tenths of of one percent...
The cam failure on ls7 is literally five times more likely to occur but no body talks about it...
If that car checked out with my corvette tech as a good vehicle and it was local to me within a few hundred mikes I'd buy that c6 z06 in a heartbeat for 24 grand...
I happen to prefer the targa roof option now a days..I keep the roof off all summer, most of the spring and fall...so that's the only reason I don't have a c6 z06 especially for 24 grand..
I've got 120k miles I put on my c6 z51 manual since new and it's been utterly reliable looks mint and the roof comes off...
It's worth 16.5 ...so my suggestion if your doing all that proposed engine work anyway..start with a car like mine...and don't even bother with the c6 z06..
But if you want an amazing bad *** c6 z06 and just run it...then buy the 24 grand example...if it checks out with its inspection..
That stupid wiggle test has n ver been an appropriate test ...and now the geniuses who insisted that test was accurate are finding that their reworked heads after 20k miles are still failing that inappropriate wiggle valve test and they are doing their heads a second time...lol
That wiggle test being performed is not accurate and the "wiggle" the owners are finding even in the second set of reworked heads are within spec of the original ls7 design and considered normal wear by GM and nothing to worry about...
I would suggest in the next 20k miles maybe slap a new set of reconditioned heads on the 505 hp naturally aspirated 427...
That's what I would consider with any high performance vehicle..
The c6 z06 with the 427 cubic engine is a slamming deal especially because the people on the internet scared the crap out of people considering buying a preowned c6 z06..
My corvette tech "the corvette mechanic" and long time friend Paul Koerner says to me you Internet guys who are screaming the heads are failing are flat out incorrect and I believe him...
Like I said ...if I could take the roof off a c6 z06 I'd be buying one because they screaming deals with some mileage on them...
Of course just my opinion.

I was all about low miles, waited patiently for around 2 years and pounced on one last month. I don’t think a high miles LS7 is a bad idea if it checks out by a solid LS7 tuner, I’d just say that price is ridiculous imo, now for 18k yeah sure. I just bought an ‘06 with just under 14k miles for 36k and it has a P1 blower/cam/headers and a few other mods for the blower. Same place had another 06 with 20k miles for 34k. In the last two years I’ve seen a ton of low miles 06-10 ZO6’s in the 33-40k range just stay patient and buy what you want bro!

I bought my 06 Z06 with 4000 miles for 36,000. There are deals out there if you are patient. I looked around d for 4 months before I bought mine. Good luck in your search!

$27k for 110k miles is only worth it if you know the owner personally. 4 owners? Walk away dude. Much better deals out there.

I think that corvette owners are very shy when it comes to # of owners and # of miles.
Chances are you will replace the same parts on this "high mileage" car as you would a low mileage unit. Shocks...engine parts...exhaust...etc.

At some point sure they are wear parts, but why over pay for a car when there is plenty out there for sale with low miles at the right price.

I decided to pass. I'd rather just have a car with low miles and one or two owners, which isn't uncommon for Z06's. Plus I'm also a bit worried about the aluminum fatigue. I doubt it's something any of us will ever have to deal with in our life times, but I do plan to put coilovers on my car, so I figure I may as well get something with a little less wear and tear on the chassis.

In my opinion if the heads have not been addressed the mileage does not matter because you need to do it anyways. Peace of mind for a few $$. My 06Z has 54k miles and my concern has nothing to do with the drivetrain. My concern is the little rattles and squeeks it is getting.

But in the world of the interweb it is easier to scare people than reassure them...
What really cracks me up is the guys now reporting 20k miles on their reworked heads after listening to fear mongering and they once again are finding the wiggle test again shows this ridiculous and inaccurate test recreating the same misdiagnosis of a problem when one doesn't actually exist..
Six tenths of one percent have.
7 times as many cam failures as valve failure...but lets replace the heads because tuners make money selling remanufacturered heads replacement and the labor is much less involved....
Bottom line is
You Can't fix stupid.
The wiggle test is a waste of time as it shows nothing.
As far as a higher mileage z06....
Good luck in whatever the original poster decides...

That would depend upon your taste in women, er cars. My preference would be for a lower mileage example.
Here's a 2006 with only 64 miles on it for $41k.
http://www.corvettewarehouse.com/200...-Texas/6412678
3.5k miles on this 2011 for $49k.

24k miles 2011 3LZ with Nav for $45k

texas direct has been averaging 35k on a 20k mile 08-09z before negotiations. they had a couple on ebay just last week
as for the OP and a 110k mile one. very few comps to get a ballpark. over 20k and under 25k is where i would be. more research is needed along with a good understanding of the cars condition. 110k in california is nothing. 110k in wisconsin is a problem
