Default Re-using cam plate bolts?

do I need to replace my cam retainer plate bolts during cam change? I’m in the middle of a swap and started see that people were saying to replace them. I don’t remember reading that or doing that my first time round.

You don’t have to but I’ve broken them before while retorquing. Also it’s a good practice to use a new cam plate. They’re cheap and the gasket is thin and if it leaks you’ll have to go pretty far back into the engine to fix it

I have a new cam plate. But fully checked my old one which was only on for 6 months or so and looks brand new. The gasket was perfect and not flat like new one. I also installed it with old bolts to 11ft lbs. then removed and ordered new bolts. Just seems crazy but I did strip one bolt when I removed these bolts a couple weeks ago. I assuming that was do to red lock tight.

I see...he want the retainer plate bolts, not the camshaft bolts.

I wouldn't bother replacing them unless they are damaged. Don't forget the Loctite.
