Default 2012 CE ZR!... which differential did it come with?

Went to order DSS inner stubs and axles and was told i need to know if its an eaton or standard c6 diff? I had no idea these cars had this as an option and am wondering how do i find out what is in mine? Rather not rip it apart either haha.

They didn't - all C6 ZR1s use the same differential, with the same 3.42:1 ratio.

I think in 2012 the Corvette ZR1 had two rear axle ratios. One was the standard 3.42 that had been used in the 2009 thru 2011 ZR1's. 2012 and 2013 you had to purchase the High Performance package for appx. 1,495.00 to have the 3.42 ratio and in most cases were easy to spot because they also came with a black rear spoiler. However, you could not rely on that if you have a CE ZR1 of course. You can check your window sticker to verify or run your vin thru the corvette action center and see the result. The High Performance Package is a separate line item on your window sticker.I do not know what the final ratio was if you had the "other" rear. It was considerably less and promoted slightly better fuel economy. Like that matters much when discussing ZR1's lol !!

That's incorrect.

ALL C6 ZR1's came with the same 3.42 rear axle....what was different was the transmission options which had different 5th and 6th gear ratios, depending if you had the "standard" ZR1 or one with the optional "PDE" perfomance package.

So you're all saying they came with the same rear axle but what is that then? Is it the "Eaton diff" 41 spline??

Eaton 41 spline sounds aftermarket.

It does but if you go to the driveshaftshop.com and look they list them as an option...and when I called the sales rep asked me what came in my car....so I'm just wondering who actually has done the inner axle stub on a zr1??? And what did they go with?

correction they list it as "fine spline" axle stubs

PDE was the optional ZR1 performance package that comprised of Michelin Cup tires and wheels, close-ratio MH3 transmission, and full-width black racing rear spoiler. It cost $1,495 and was produced in 184 examples in 2012 and 191 in 2013. ME2 was the base ZR1 transmission that had slightly taller gears in 5th and 6th gear, so it could obtain a 1-mpg increase in EPA mileage and the gas guzzler tax was reduced from $1,300 to $1,000.

You want Standard. The Eaton they are talking about are 41 spline. There are a lot of differences in the ZR1 differential but inner spline count is not one of them.

My 2012 has the PDE package and the back spoiler is carbon fiber ~ not just black. The gearing is WAY different (lower) than my 06 Z06.
