More like Base MSRP = $52K...price as equipped = $58K - $60K. This is...

I'm sure that's possible...
However, when I said $70k that was assuming you want the car bad enough to pay the market bump that every dealer is going to sell the cars with, at least for the first year or so. Judging by the threads I have been reading it seems like most dealers have a long waiting list and 9,000 Z's are gonna go fast, so I am banking on a bottom line price of over 60 grand... I would feel really bad for buying a C6 if the price is < 10k more for the Z06...

The local dealer sales rep. I spoke to today said
THANK-YOU for stating it this way - instead of manufacturing a fact all yourself.

And also thanks for not adding "you can take it to the bank... "

$70K is about right for that level of performance..... still less than a new Viper.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there are plenty of forum sponsor dealers commited to selling Z06's at MSRP?

I believe that is true.

Well, looks like you are going to feel really bad....

Now 1 of 2 things is going to happen.

1) The Z06 will be priced Below $60K and sell the 6000-9000 cars they are supposed to make (this is an $18K increase over a standard Corvette. I do not believe the Z06 will have creature comforts like on the 1SB (Nav, XM, etc).

2) GM has been lying all along, and they do not plan on making 6000-9000 cars, and so they price it close to $70K or even a little more. It may or may not sell, this would be a new market for GM, but it won't sell 6000-9000 cars every year (look at the viper).

Well then, I guess I am gonna have to wait until January before I place my order. I was all set to purchase a C6 yesterday when I decided to hold off until the Z unveiling... I hope you are all right about the ~$62K MSRP... This is < $10K more than a loaded C6....??????

You didn't copy the 2nd point. If it is a $70K+ car, they have lied about the 6000-9000 units/year production numbers.

Anyway, I think everyone is going overboard by going from a LOADED C6 to the Z06. What you need to do is start with a BASE C6 and add all the options. I have said, I don't think the Z06 will come with XM, NAV, etc. They may be options, but not standard and therefore will save money to put towards the performance parts.

The C5 Z06 had to make up the money for the losses incured with the low end FRC model that started it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting to see what the new Z looks like and the price/performance. I think you are making the right choice.

I sure hope so. I was all set to place my order for the '05, but I am going to get myself on the Z- list tomorrow... I thought it was going to be a long wait 'till March for my C6, now what do we have to wait until, next fall?!?!
