Default 2006 Z06 DSOM 56k miles...blown engine...

Hello all,

I am testing the waters here to see if I want to attempt to sell this thing. I put maybe 300 miles on the car before it dropped a valve and blew the motor. It is pretty much stock.

I'm thinking about $32,000 would take it, in order to leave enough room to get a new motor. I'm willing to entertain offers.

If you are interested please let me know. You may PM me or reply here. If you want to talk over the phone PM me your phone number and we can talk.

The car had an aftermarket cam, but the engine was stock after that. The interior has painted DSOM panels installed, and brand new stock panels.

Thanks for looking.

You're def going to want to post some pics as the exterior is what's going to sell this car. Great color...show it off

Where are you located?

Also not trying to beat you up on price but you can buy a running driving 06 with similar miles for 37ish. I realize Dsom is a very rare color (I've actually owned one) but it's going to take at least 8k-12k to put a used motor in.

Scroggin Dickey sells brand new crate LS7's for $13,600.

A quick Ebay search turned up one vendor at $12,000

Factor in install cost and hassle...

My profile under my name states my location, Sacramento, CA.

I know how much it will cost to put a motor in the car.

I don't really care how much other Z06's are going for. I am not holding a gun to anyone's head.

However, I am open to offers.

I am NOT desperate to sell. If the offers aren't viable I will keep it and put a motor in it myself. Its been sitting in the garage for a year and a half as of now.

The car is in great shape except for the engine. It does have Navigation. The miles is in the title, 56k. The engine is partially apart, I removed the top end and heads to see what the damage was. The block MIGHT be able to be saved if it were to be re-sleeved because the external case does not have cracks, but I'm not an expert there.

Oh and the passenger head is totally fine and could be reused. Of course it would need to be rebuilt with new guides...

Just my opinion, but if you have the time and funds you might as well fix it. I can't imagine anyone NOT wanting to just beat the crap out of you on the price.

Might as well shoulder the time and cost to repair it and then sell it. Might really not come out any better but atleast you can drive it for awhile while waiting to sell it and not have to entertain all the tire kickers and vultures.

Also, a few questions if you don't mind.

I assume you just bought this, based on the only 300 mile comment.

Did the car make any valvetrain noise at startup? Cold or hot? Did you have any indication that this was about to fail?

Sorry to ask, It's a very ****** situation. Being in the market for a C6 Z I'm terrified of this and am suspect of ANY car I look at.

Default Yeah...

Thx for the advice. If I don't get the right money for the roller, I'm keeping the car and putting a new motor in it, but I won't sell it at that point. I'll keep it for a long time.

I had no indication that it was going to fail, at all. Other than the stories of others with the problem. Before you buy one, make sure you either have it checked, or paperwork showing the work was done.

Screw buying a crate motor for it. If someone is going to spend that kind of money, you could build a 550-600whp bullet proof motor for that kind of cost. Add a 150 shot and let it eat.

Best bet might be have an iron blocked LSX put in. That can handle boost or n20, and can be done for half the price of another ls7.
