If I had a maggie and wanted more power to keep it safe, no question a nice blower cam, (don't need the heads the factory flow just fine) and a meth kit. EVERYONE IMHO running over 550rwhp should run meth, it drastically drops intake temps, raises the octane to eliminate detonation, and keeps the engine clean, an added bonus. You will see about 30hp with the cam and the meth will allow another 40-50 with proper tuning.

Thanks for Your opinion!!
A cam,for sure,and I have heard that the stock heads are o.k,but some after market heads might flow a little better!{or just re-do the stock ones}
Oh yeah,I forgot to mention that I don't like the idea of meth.
I know it has alot of benifits, but I've heard some bad stories.
I am currently running 93 octane to help with detonation.

Yeah if you really wanted to do some head work porting out the stock ones would be the way I would go, but with FI its not the same a NA, with NA you are relying on the engine to suck in the air, so you need all the flow you can get, whereas with FI it is forced in so porting doesn't make much difference. I have seen to many dyno's in person with guys making 700+rwhp with stock heads. Its just wasted $$ IMHO. The cam is what make the difference, it keeps the valves open longer and wider.

I thought the same thing too about meth when I first read about it, but there really is nothing to it, you can buy a $400 kit and it works with your existing washfluid tank, and your current fluid in there is water and methonal, most don't know that. When you study the great benifit of it, it is truly the best thing you can add to a FI car, and Maggie's make a lot of heat! Something to consider

Well if you want to fly, mti blower cam and any head with 72cc. Then put a 3.2 pulley and 8 inch ECS crank. With a little ''METH'' you will be good to go. If you get lucky and break, then you can build a 402ci just like me!!!!!!!

Did You get the 402 after You had the maggie installed?
Thanks!

I think a cam is the next logical step (and maybe meth). That should put you WELL over 500rwhp. I know this would be my next mod....but I am done. Pls let us know how it turns out.

OR-------

I think the easiest (and cheapest) way to gain another 30 to 50 rwhp (or more) would be to run the next smallest pulley (2.9?) and the meth kit. This would put your boost around 8 lbs...as high as I would go on the stock bottom end (but still safe). Just an idea..........

I know...I know
My wife drives the car as much as I do (I have a company vehicle) and I made a deal with her when the mods began: DO NOT AFFECT THE EVERYDAY DRIVABILITY. Besides, my goal was 500rwhp and I'm there. I think this is plenty for a street car (right now)..I'm so traction limited anyway. Of course.....I'm awaiting results of your next mod.......

If you want more power,
I'd recommend doing a 402ci rebuild with forged pistons.
Not opnly will you have the extra stoke,
you will be able to run more boost.
Most importantly,
you will have the peace of mind that a forged shortblock allows.

Nineball did get good results with his cam with his Maggie,
but I don't think heads are going to be worth the $$$$.

Now I'm about to be serious,
I'm NOT busting your *****.

How much more power do you think you can make with your Maggie?
IAT's and heat soak will become an issue once you turn up the boost.

Once you have a forged motor,
a TT or Lysholm will REALLY make a difference.
But,
obvioulsy the TT will be the best performer.

I will concede that the Maggie is not bad on a 100% stock car.
Definitely better than a heads and cam.

But,
I think you will find out what most FI guys have been saying is true.
You ALWAYS want MORE and the Maggie will limit your expandability.

Not starting trouble with you.

Flame suit on just in case.

You want more George? Gee, I just couldn't imagine that.

I talked with a few shops in Nov/Dec and they all agreed that a cam and alky gets you more power, but as others are saying - our Maggie is nearing it's ceiling. For the $$$ and the work involved to get an extra 50hp (cam, alky, 8+lbs boost).... I'd prolly just call it a day where it's at with an otherwise trouble-free stocker on the bottom-end.

Gotta say, I think I'm with Bushong572 on this - I'm finished with my quest for more power. 500rwhp was my goal and with the 3.2, I've no doubt it busted that mark (I know... I'm re-dyno'ing next weekend weather permitting). Traction can be broken at will through roughly 100mph. What else could I ask for?

But, I know you... you have a sickness my man. One that cannot be cured. So with that said... I eagerly await the next transformation of that beast.

I would say cam and keep saving for that next big upgrade. Like bigger cubes.

For me, once I find out Vandenberg AFB, California won't be my next assignment. Cam and headers for sure will be my next mods.

IT all has to do with the way you drive your car!!! I have had my car for 5 years now ( 500 1/4 pass'es ) and I have broken 1 tranny, This last year most of my freinds have broken their trannys and rear-ends more then once's, because they rev and pop off the line. I go off idle and still run 10's. Watch my video in my signature and you will see what I'm talking about.
