Ok, its my turn now. The kit seems to run fine at night and in the early morning, however between 11:00 PM to 3:00 PM that thing over heats like hell. I don't know how much heat you FI guyz have seen, but to me driving decently with water temps at 221+ is scary, to an extent that the fans stay on when I turn the engine off. I also noticed the temps going up to 240 after I switch off the engine! what do you guyz think, is this normal? Could the engine withstand such heat?
At night the temps reach a max of 212, but is usually a "little" lower.
Will the bigbollas mod work with the vortech? What easy mods could I do to insure the temps go a little down. We got an LPE TT thats overheating as well, so this might help us both really.
Is waterwetter a safe additive to use with the coolant? Also what mixture to use, im sunning 100% coolant i guess

Highest I've seen with my 06Z is 220 for both coolant and oil. However, I've seen 250+ oil temps in my 03 - it's getting an oil cooler for that reason.
I think WeaponsGradeTorque dropped in a DeWitts radiator in his PC Z.

I am also interested in adding a stand alone oil cooler however I don't want to mount it in front of the radiator since there are so many things there blocking the air flow alread. Anyone mount one at other places that has good air flow?

Andy and Charlie (A&A and RPM) have mounted several in the side vent area, I'm pretty sure thats where mine will be, as soon as I get it back, I will post a pic. However, thats on my C5 not C6.

I don't think it would matter whether it is a C5 or C6 since the car is so close. I would appreciate a picture of your oil mount when you get it. Thanks
Doug Rippie installed my A&A Vortech, and the highest coolant temp I've seen is 221. Highest oil temp was 227 (my oil cooler is on the front of the radiator, right side of car). That was running at about 90 along the Kansas Turnpike in 98 degree temps. Redline on the LS2 isn't until 260, so I don't see what the problem is with 220's? Is the OP saying there is no independent oil cooler on his install?

I had a similar situation here in NY during the hot days of summer - DEFINITLY do the BB Mods , as many as you can , they help in a big way - Also are the temps getting this high with the A/C on or off ??? On my car , she only ran over 220 with the A/C on - You will see the temps go higher for a few minutes after turning the car off , but within moments of turning it back on the temps should go back down .
Also , cut the top lip off of your air dam in the nose of the car - That alone bought my cruising temps down almost 10 degrees

thanks for the feedback guyz, I will see what I could do, remember the temps are extremely hot at 45 degrees C. Tonight I was hitting a little hard on the car, and the temps are PERFECT. I should get a video of how different the car gets at noon and at night.
Sorry, but what exactly is the airdam lip? :o I will also try to modify the Z06's front naca duct to allow more air-flow and possibly reduce intake air temps, it should help.

The airdam or front spoiler is the black plastic thing that is underneath the car in the nose closest to the ground (unless the Z's dont have it , but I think they do ) - Anyway , its shaped like an "L" with the long side extending down to the ground and the short side covering the space by the radiator ( I know I'm describing this poorly , but get under the car and youll see what Im saying ) - if you cut the short side of the "L" off you get about an inch and a half of open space and the air flows up the spoiler onto your radiator - I have found this helped me greatly . Good luck , and I know what you mean about the day/night difference .
