Default Just Curious...

I have a Supercharged C6Z that's putting down 576rwhp. The car is an absolute blast to drive everyday. However my question to everyone is how in the Hell do you guys put down any more power than this? 1st gear and most of the time 2nd gear is abosolutely useless. The only time I can get traction is rolling 3rd. Everyonce in a while 2nd will hold on if it is perfect conditions and the tires are warm.

Does anyone just drive around on DR's? That to me kind've takes the point away from the Z in that it does most everything well.

Are people getting better traction on non Goodyear rubber?

Again, I'm just curious and by no means complaining. Though a few sportbikes around my town are not happy with this Z.

Cheers,
Chad

Don't know what your setup is but most with regular c6s are getting close to your #s and some well beyond with some well thought out setups. You have a lot of power left on the table but fight the same comp. ratio issue. I'm sure your missing 50 hp without getting crazy and some guys on here could tell you more. It would help to know what your setup is. Yes the goodyears suck a$$. Yes I now like to watch the expression on the faces of sport bike riders from time to time being a motorcyclist myself. I'm a believer. to a good time

Default Upgrade

I had 520 RWHP with a P series procharger and headers and stock bottom end. I wanted MORE power and more torque to my car so I am now replacing that LS-2 with a LS-7 stroker motor with 225 AFR heads and cam package and waiting to see the results I get when dynoed. I will be getting the car back at the end of this week and will keep members posted.

I forgot to mention that I am running Nitto 555 Drag Radials on aftermarket 18" rims. I use these tires on the street and at the track. This new power will be a blast to drive on the streets. I'm hoping that the A4 tranny with the 3600 stall works great together. Again, I'll have the car at the end of this week.

Thanks...the set-up is easy..it's a bone stock 06 C6Z with the Vortech SC kit 5lbs of boost. The cars drives just like stock...except it has over 100more RWHP. I'm not complaining about getting more HP...I know easy ways to get 30-50more...my thought is why bother since at this point unless the road is long enough at a light even a slightly modded WRX is gonna put a hurtin on me.

I have an SPF Shelby Cobra that isn't as "fast" as the Z but in 90% of situations if I ran them the Cobra would make the Z feel really bad in the 1/8th.

Again, I'm not a Street Racer and that's not what I am getting at I just know there are plenty of CF member with over 600hp out there(C5's & C6's) and I was curious what your doing for your daily driving street rubber and what do you do in the event a situation presents itself and yet you feel as if you lined up in the water box and anything over 25% throttle in 1st gear and it's smoke fest.

Cheers,
Chad

Bro , Im running over 550 at the wheels on the stock runflat POS , I know exactly what youre talking about .... - I feel like a Kia Rio will get off the line faster than me

Im hearing good things about the Nitto Invos ( do they make those in Z sizes ?) for everyday street driving and from what I hear they also have good rain traction .

I think the rears that fit the C6Z stock rear wheel is a 345 just like the PS2.

I just purchased a set of 345 PS2's on a 19x12.5 for my 600rwhp C6........I'm curious to see how they'll do with the 3200 stall. Granted, they won't hook like a DR, but should be much better than the measley 305 Potenza's I'm currently running. I really wish they made a 19" DR.......I'd run them 24/7.

I almost bought the Nitto Invo's intead of the PS2's but heard several complaints about a very "soft" side wall- and the overall handling was average, maybe slightly better than average. I couldn't find many bad comments on the PS2's and a buddy of mine has them on his 740rwhp C6 and swears by them. That's just about all the convincing I need. I'm looking forward to trying them out.....and the minute a 19" DR becomes available they'll be coming off.

though not an inexpensive alternative... you may want to consider "raising" ie: numerically lowering your rear axle ratio

True but 62mph in 1st and 85 in 2nd is already tall enough ;-) Like I said early it's a good problem to have i was mostly seeing what others did for tires.

I went to 345 PS2s to try and get some traction with 585rwhp and I now can hook up in 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd still need a soft touch on the loud pedal. I have a Maggie122 so I get alot of power and tq. under the curve. I also have a SPF with a 484ci alum.Shelby engine. They are both over powered but thats what we want.

What a great combo ;-) I have a different set-up on my SPF but I have to say I think I'm jealous of yours!!! I have an r-302 based motor that I had in a drag race 5.0 making over 800hp with 27psi of boost out of a ysi. I dropped in in the SPF just N/A but an feeling like it is too slow. So we are currently working on giving it a boost! Take care and enjoy your rides. Also I like your plate. Mine on the Z is
Blwn C6Z

Chad

I run 600 rwhp/rwtq (8psi) on the street and find that the TT is easy to control with the throttle. I only get the big numbers when I choose to spool up.
