Hi there guyz, Im thinking of replacing my crappy Vortech BOV for something better, and hopefully something that sounds like a BOV not a silent bov like the standard one that came with my Vortech. Which BOV's do you recommend, and will they produce ENOUGH sound to be noticed by people even with my extremely low boost application, sub 5PSI on a C6 Z06?
Also how much tweaking do they need, I know they are adjustable but how adjustable are they, im just hoping something would work out to support my low boost application, and not cause any compressor surge.
I am putting this one on mine. I've heard it on a procharged Z06 and it is NASTY!! He has 10lbs. of boost on his. I am picking my car up on Tuesday and will post some videos of how it sounds. You can also look at the Tial 50mm. Take a look at this link.

I was thinking of an HKS or a Greddy BOV, however I don't know if they would work with my set-up especially the low-boost issue. What do you think, this BOV in the video is too quite for me, I like the sound of the Greddy and the HKS the most. Also I am not sure if I would ever hear a BOV dumping boost with such low boost.
ayousef,
.... The HKS SSQ BOV will work for you with the correct flange.
Even at low boost and they don't leak. I had it in my car before I went to the larger 52mm Turbosmat unit.
You will definitely hear the whistle between gears.
Hear is a video I took when I had it on my car.
The mic is under the hood so you can hear it better. Try to block out the backround noises.
If you are running the bypass valve recirculating back into the intake, you will be hard pressed to hear much of anything. I recently ran a HKS SSQV on my vortech mustang making about 10 psi and for some reason, I kept getting a vacuum leak. I'm not sure what it was, I think I've heard of issues with the 2nd gen SSQV. If you have the stock style bosch valve that hooks up to 2 1" hoses, try a greddy or TurboXS bypass that is made for a VW/Audi.

Do you know if there would be any tuning changes or requirements by just changing out the Bosch valve with a Greddy etc, or is it just a simple valve change out?

I have the ATI unit on my vert and it sounds like a jet coming down the street! I personally like it, but your not hiding your F/I kit, that's for sure.
The Tail 50mm works great also, with the 7lb spring it has more of a whoosh sound between shifts and the ten lb spring has more of a che-che-che-che-che sound. It's all personal preference which is why we include a more stealthy unit for our SC kit, then it can be personalised from there if so desired.

Thanks Doug. Do you know if the unit with the 7lb spring is quieter than the Bosch during normal cruising, but louder between shifts? I wouldnt mind having the wooosh sound between shifts, but I would prefer if it was a little quieter during cruise (less of an air compressor sound -"che che che che che").
