Default Meth question

As some of you may know, I'm in the market for a Twin Turbo setup. I have a 2008 C6 A6 and would like to run 7psi daily. I was wondering if I would need meth to run 9psi on occasional highway runs.

Would I need to tune it differently? would I HAVE to get software and plug in my laptop?

I dont think the tranny will take too much of that but Id like to hear what you all think since I am a total no0b in the world of forced induction.

Also, if any of you have stealth installs that dont use up the windshield washer reservoir id love to see them!

thanks!

You can use a boost controller to change the boost and you don't have to use meth. Meth will add additional cooling to the charge and it will increase the overall octane of the charge. That will allow you to increase the timing and therefore get more tq and hp. In my case, my car was originally tuned @ 9.5 psi w/o meth and could only take 6* advance without KR. The #s were 570 rwtq and 560 rwhp. Adding meth allowed the timing to be set at 13* advance and the #s were 654 rwtq and 630 rwhp @ 10 psi. I choose to run @ 8 psi w/meth (600/600) as I never track the car.

I would recommend letting a professional tune the car. The software is pretty complex, and without help you would probably get a lot wrong.

I don't recall the company name, but I'm sure with a little searching you could find it... But they offer a complete meth injection kit that is VERY well put together (from what I've read).

Has a pump that sits atop the tank in the trunk and everything....

I would run an ALKY system with any F.I. app period... 5psi,7psi,9psi+... It's too easy to make the engine safe with it, and even easier to make gobs of power (if you want to) because of it...
Call Julio at www.alkycontrol.com
He is the man when it comes to alky knowledge and he's VERY willing to help...

One of the many things I did when I first came to the forum and caught the mod bug. I called just about every active forum supporter that had anything to do with any mod I was considering. It won't turn you into the likes of MR BIG or Spin Monster, but you will be able to go forward with your mods and be more confident and knowledgeable about it.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the alkycontrol.com kit and the alcoholinjectionsystems.com kit?

I'm too new to this to make heads or tails of it. I just want the safest kit.

thanks!

i just got my AIS kit and it looks really nice.i will let you know how it performs in about a week on my APS kit and about 12 pounds of boost with straight meth .but the kit is very nice and i upgraded to the steel braided line for the pure meth.you cant go wrong with either, but i didnt want to take the fender back off since i just did the z06 widebody conversion and had hell lining the front fender up perfectly.so i just got the trunk mount kit.good luck

Your best failsafe is your ECU. Your ECU is already monitoring engine performance and safety. With proper dyno tuning you can continue to utilize your OEM ECU to to act as your failsafe.

If you would like to find out more information about our system feel free to contact us directly at 1.801.447.2559.

then get Defi gages, like I have, with data logging, and high/low alert capability (fuel pressure,Boost,AFR)...
ALKY control all the wayyyyyyyy... Call Julio........

and most importantly can you link me to the controller that you use and can that alert somehow cut the boost with a boost controller? or w/e sorry im a no0b at this :o

those are pretty nice thanks for the pic post!

I'm trying to get a whole lot of info in a very short time and am still confused as to how meth works.

I am going to be twin turboing my c6 and would like to run a boost controller so I can switch from low boost to high boost with Meth... my question is if my car is tuned for low boost won't I run into a problem when I boost high? Will I lean out? What about the timing?

Would I have to run HP tuners with 2 different tunes?
