I like the aggressive feeling to the car with the converter myself, some people feel they are "loose", it all opinion so you should drive a car that has that mod before doing it yourself.

hope that helps.
Should I add one to my car ? I have the optional 273 gears and I like the way the car feels. I did have a 3200 stall in my camaro and it did feel a bit loose. Is a converter absolutely needed if its only for a street car and a highway runner? Or is a converter really for launching better and harder and knocking off a few tenths at the track.

The restrictor plate is similar to the ones they have under the carbs in NASCAR. It allows you to run a smaller pulley to make boost faster but it limits the max boost you would make with that pulley. So if you have an ECS kit and need some quick power, just remove the restrictor plate.

Actually we have done that several times now with the addition of our alky kit. We average 670-725 on an otherwise stock C6 with headers.

I think you should specify that removing that plate is going to require a new tune. Making comments like that is going to make someone with a plate decide it'd be a good idea to go yank it off real quick, and see what 670+whp feels like. I think you would agree it doesn't work like that.

JJ -

ECS (thanks thegame - was typing too quickly while leaving work!) did great work on my 06Z06. With the following equipment installed, I recently made 670 rwhp (up from 415ish rwhp stock - arguably way low for a stock Z06) and 650ish rwtq (up from 399 rwtq stock - again low for stock):

ECS SC600
AR headers
Alky kit

Simply incredibly what they did and how they did it! I highly recommend you give Chris or Doug at call at ECS.

John

I guess I did not think I would have to clarify that increasing boost would require a retune, but yes you are correct, and thanks for pointing that out.

We have a few A6's out there over 600rwhp, proper tuning helps keep them going. Naturally things can happen at those levels, and there aren't enough out there at high hp levels to really give a proper life expectancy at those levels.

I am presently road racing in AZ, if you wouldn't mind, please call the shop at 609-752-0321 and Chris will be happy to give you a full quote. Thanks!
