Default A&A upgrade

The A&A Vortech is great kit, I just ordered a 3" intercooler pipe kit.
It includes 8 pipes with 3 90 mandrill alum 1/16 thick pipes and some shorter and longer straights.
All polished with silicone couplers and clamps. I am looking the change
out the all rubber 90 pipes with the Aluminun. The rubber would have to inflate some what costing some boost. Going to all metal should
give better boost>plus the rubber pipes are larger than 3" internal further
helping build boost!

Wow, you are ready to start tearing into your kit again?
I really want one of the new passenger side inlet intercoolers to reduce all that plumbing... I guess mine must have been the LAST kit to ship out with driver side inlet I don't like all that plumbing...
For the record though I don't see how the rubber hoses could be costing power unless they have a smaller internal cross section or much greater viscous drag...

We were! I wanted the passenger side one too! had mine sold was ready and Andy said not worth the trouble. They require removing the bumper cover and
it more work for very little if any gain. he said I'll sell you one but your set-up is good and not worth it in his opion. The metal piping would be much better than the rubber as it is solid where the rubber inflates somewhat! The air would be forced down the pipe instead of losing pressure in the rubber! Plus cool the charge better IMO
Going to try it plus headers will be here thursday!

You need to remove the bumper cover to get that passenger side inlet installed? OK, no longer interested

Keep us posted of how your mods work out for you! I've got a few of my own planned out:
I am going to either replace the 54lbs/hr injectors for 60lbs/hr injectors OR get them enlarged... Andy says it is OK that they are at 95% duty cycle but my tuner and I disagree.
With the extra fuelling capacity I will then add a ported FAST intake manifold to my build... It will add low end torqu...
Then I plan on focusing on some weight reduction... I have the car entered on a cross country road rally and I fully intend on having the fastest car in the entire 100 car lineup

Why could you guys not just flip it like we did? sure you may have to cut off the tabs and re weld them for the "ram" air pieces, and maybe cut and turn the inlet, but it should be pretty strait forward... I promise you'll love the flipped FMIC... It would be much easier/cheaper to just mod the one you have... and go to a 3.5inch outlet at the top while you are at it... That's just another easy one...

I thought about it! Looked like the thing could be flipped easy enough. Going to look at closer It's matter of getting the plumbing through to the cooler I do like the metal piping verse the rubber. In is like having your air compressor tank made of rubber.
Your piping is the storage of pressure from the blower.

My kit I ordered is enough pipes to fix the condom problem, For TWO cars. The more I think the more I think your losing boost with rubber veres metal plumbing, wouldn't surprize me if I gain a pound or more.Plus instead of allowing outward pressure it has to go to the cooler with better velocity. If you want I can fix your plumbing problem! The hoses were using work but the metal piping has to be a lot better. If i get a nice result. We can split the kit. I know you'll be interested

I thought about that, but:

Andy said that division really helped distribute the airflow better and keep the temperatures even across the intercooler... Plus I wouldn't trust my welding skills on an intercooler

Still easy, just cut the bottom tank off and flip it, re-weld and viola! I'm sure you could find a good fab shop close by, this would not be hard at all...
