Default Help with performance

Hello guys, i am kinda new here, and to be honest before anyone starts calling me a troll of anything, i'm just asking advice from people who know more than me, that's it. I was taught to take advice from smarter people and more experienced people. I am finally getting around to my vette, here's the dilemma, i'm on a budget but i want to put a new engine (the current engine has problems) in it. I was thinking about going with something that is custom made already. Also, i am going with forced induction, and am caught in a dilemma between supercharging and twin turbos. I would like to be over 800 at the crank for sure. Do you guys have any suggestions for good priced custom motors, and in your experience what systems, superchargers or twin turbos, are the best and have great pricing, any vendor suggestions would be great

TJ,

Welcome! What year is your car? How damaged is your existing motor?

You'll definitely want a NICE TT or Supercharger setup - and with the help of knowledgeable members and vendors here, we'll certainly get you all set up!

thanks man, it's a 2007 c6, i am basically changing everything about it, it was wrecked but not bad and i'm building it back up with a good frame and chassis, the engine will be brand spanking new, i'm looking for something that can hold TONS of horsepower , something that is safe at the horsepower levels i want, not just almost at it's limit, you know? I'd like to get alot of my hp from the engine, probably 600 from the engine, from there i think 800 wouldn't be that hard, also i forgot to ask about trans, what custom trans is everybody running? i hear rockland makes a great trans, but i'm ona budget, i was wondering about how to strengthen it to where it's rated above 1000 hp and 1000 lb. ft

Budget and 800 crank hp might be mutually exclusive.

A turbo kit is what $7G's, a forged engine is what, $7500? Fuel system will be about $1200. Tuning will be $700.

I bought my motor from MATT @ www.Texas-Speed.com and it is there now getting a rod bearing replaced. They built me a low compression motor that can handle plenty of boost and the juice (if I want). I will be back on the road in 1-2 weeks after Geoff @ Next Level Performance puts the motor back in for me. I have over 900+ horsepower at the crank and 757 RWHP for the streets. It's a great set-up with the F1A Procharger on it.
That's MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME!!!

Make sure you include in your options the LSX iron block good to 2000+hp. a little more and slightly heavier, but if you are batting around 800-1000 hp #s ---- just a thought...you'll probably want more...just give it time...

Where do you live? It might be better to point you in the direction of a qualified shop in your area that can sit down with you and talk some options and numbers.

first of all, i want a good solid crate motor pushing well over 600 hp, preferably close to 700 that can handle 1000 hp easy, then i want to get a trans that can handle 1000 plus easily, if that takes up all my money, then so be it, i can get a 5 grand supercharger later, have you guys heard of mastmotorsports.com??

Matt @ www.Texas-Speed.com will set you up with a crate motor that will give you 600-700 RWHP and can handle the boost of 1000+ with no problems. I have their 900 crank horsepower and only using 10 pounds of boost. My motor could handle more boost OR a shot of go-go juice. I am very happy with 757 RWHP @ 10 pounds and know I can go higher if I choose to. Tell him Wheelchair Charlie sent ya!!!

From your stated location (in no particular order)

1. Ragin Racin / Carencro, LA

2. Dallas Performance / Dallas, TX

3. 21st Century Muscle Cars / Dallas, TX

If money were no consideration:

1. Katech / Air Attack Pkg / 500ci with APS / Clinton Township, MI

2. Lingenfelter / Twin Turbo / Decatur, IN

Good luck on your build and take some pics for us when you're done
