I've made the decision to get the ACT Twin disk that Andy is using alot of lately.
It's available in different configurations like the SPEC twin. The one I'm looking at is the base model ACT twin.
- Organic disks with high copper content
- 850 foot #'s clamping load
- $1249 from Andy
- ~36# total weight (factory is ~56#)
- Balanced within .75 oz inches

In the past yes, they have had problem's (most have "it's called R&D) but it looks like they have worked those issues out....
Have you heard of the SPEC twin disk lately to have problems?
Ive had 2 that had problems in the last 3-4 monthes. One of them they admitted was a problem with the clutch. The other fedex lost when i shipped it back.
OK - I am looking into my clutch issue before I start with these turbos.
I need a clutch to hold up to 900+ rwhp reliably.
I have talked to a few venders and have gotten quotes on spec dual disk clutches.
What do you guys recommend?

they are built to your specifications and they WORK 100% of the time. I love mine and highly recommend them. My 700whp/600wtq z06 drives like stock on the street and holds tq like a race car at the track. Its taken everything I've thrown at it from pulling 1.4sec - 60's at the drag strip, to doing 20+ minute HPDE sessions, to doing autox's, to daily driving. it does it all and does it well.
call them up and tell them the kind of driving you do and how much TQ you plan to make and they'll recommend the best clutch for you. The best part about their product is that eventually when you need a rebuild they are cheap (~$500ish) and you can even change things around if you think your setup or driving style will be different then before. Thats what I call customer service.
Fran, can you be more specific on your problems? Twin disk? What trim? Could it have been from an install problem?
Englandgreen runs them all the time and never have failures...hmmmmmm
Fed ex doesn't count....lol

I had multiple issues with mine as well. 1400tq model. First it was oh this will hold any power you can throw at it will last 20,000 mile easy from spec directly. Then i called them and told them i had issues after 3000 miles on the clutch it started slipping terribly. I called him his first words were thats the hardest compoud material and you cant expect it to last long at high power levels . So eventually i got them to take the product back however i had to pay for shipping both ways. The problem was they sent me the wrong clutch set up and the one they sent me actually needed a spacer for the slave. Next time around i got a ton of chatter ended up pulling it again couldnt find anthing wrong with it. Drove it some more chatter is still there. Clutch wear looks like its been in there for a lot longer than the 4,000 miles total i have had the clutch in. NOW for the bad part. This was at 502 rwhp.....
The clutch is going back in, in a few weeks and will have 1000rwhp + throw at it. Bottom line if i run into another issue with this clutch im done and the 300+ clutches we do out of our shop every year will not be spec's products in any way shape or form. At least a 100 of those being twin disks at a $1200 + a pop
Bottom line be careful with your choice and good luck
how is this clutch with when engaged and disengaged and which one u go with
I went with the "billet carbon" with the extra light flywheel. Next to the $6000 Tilton, I believe it is the lightest unit out there at 25lbs. Honestly, it is kind of a PITA to drive. No slip at all.

The Street Twin is supposed to be much better.
I have the RPS billet carbon with the steel flywheel and it drives great. The Aluminum flywheel is too light and definitely causes problems. I have no plate chatter, but the aluminum billet pressure plate does transmit driveline noise to the shifter at idle and causing it to rattle a bit. The street twin with the stamped steel pressure plate is supposed to solve this rattle problem, but it weighs a little more. It's also about $500 less expensive.
