Default TechCo Facility Tour

I've been to TechCo before, but went again today to get a better look at the place (it was busy last time) and check out the Corvettes being worked on there. There's a red test mule (LS3) running their 10-lb kit, a white LS3, an orange LS3 and a red LS2 all awaiting some magic. One of the LS3s TechCo has is being used as the "model" for their instruction manual and pictures it will contain.I got to listen and watch the test mule run up past 6000 rpms on the dyno and it sounded good. My timing couldn't have been better.

I called first and talked to Ned, who is super busy with all the different platforms they support. He took me around, answered all my questions and introduced me to a lot of the staff. Ned neglected to introduce me to the hot receptionist and another hottie with an office inside, but I'll forgive him this once.

The facility is astounding. Huge, clean, and God knows how much money in equipment is in there. The owner is obviously loaded, and he has a passion for this. He's got a few Saleen S7s hanging around in the warehouse, two of which are race-prepped, and one for sale, but TechCo wasn't interested in my ********* for payment.

For those of you worried about TechCo not looking into the LS2 platform soon enough, quit your crying. I have an LS2 myself and they're already doing research on it and they already have an LS2 in house. There isn't going to be an issue with TechCo providing a kit in a timely matter like some other maker promised. I'll leave it at that.

TechCo is literally right next door to West Coast Corvettes so I talked to John there for a few minutes. He's very impressed with TechCo and rightly so IMHO. West Coast Corvettes has a very impressive facility as well and John was very helpful.

Thanks to Ned/everyone at TechCo and John at WCC. I'm sure I'll be back there soon.

Yes it is. One person I spoke to today said Saleen (CA) was very flaky in the past and burned some local vendors for quite a bit of money.

I'm a newbie to California, so I am almost certainly wrong about the building. I know some ex-Saleen employees were visiting TechCo today when I left.

I need to pay TechCo a visit some time... Maybe next time I'm in California. I can't believe I used to live there just over a year ago and now I'm living in New Jersey

Careful what you wish for. The taxes are insane, the gas sucks and the laws are **** aout everything. Not to mention the emmissions.

My Mrs. is from OC. I get out there a few times a year. I agree with San - good place to visit. Oh the eye candy!

I live in DC and will probably do so for years to come....

yeah the cost of living can be a bit ridiculous. Kinda wish Techco was based in a small town in the midwest, lol then maybe the price would be lower. j/j

and yeah I heard about their emissions which would not be good for someone like me. But the weather and beaches almost makes it all worth it.

Which reminds me, I am sure it is but the techco supercharger is 50 state legal right? Can't imagine why it wouldn't be.

The TechCo kit will have a CARB number, which is the most stringent emmissions requirement I know of. I'm not sure about 50-state compliance, I'll let TechCo chime in on that.

Funny as I visit DC four or more times a year (business) and live in OC.

Nah, in truth the reason I moved to NJ is because I was living in Torrance and working 30 miles away and my day-to-day life consisted of getting stuck in massive traffic jams for 2+ hours a day every day. If I wanted anything, even something as simple as a gallon of milk, I had to drive for it, and the traffic sucked everywhere I went. I had a really cool job doing Special Effects for movies and shows, but it was a ton of work, they made me work weekends, and in the end I was going to get paid a lot more in NJ. More money + less traffic jams + not working weekends (I actually get to take Fridays off all the time duringthe summer) was a no brainer for me.

NJ kind of sucks though. I live in a very nice area, but there are some incredible slums here like Newark, Camden and Trenton. The nicer towns like the one I live in have NOTHING to do other than eat and sleep, so I commute to Manhattan for some weekend action. Oh, and people here really, really can't drive. I have at least one really close call every month, usually from someone simply turning into my lane as though I was never there. Nobody ever signals, everyone rides on the left lane, etc etc...

Then again I've also lived in Michigan, North Carolina, and Vermont, and driven every single state in the continental USA except for 2 or 3: everywhere I go I can find something to enjoy and something to complain about, so now I just go wherever work takes me
