I currently have Nitto Invo's on the front 255/35/18 on 18"x9.5" wheels. I have 19"x"11 rear wheels with Nitto Invo 305/30/19's but just ordered some 18"x12" rear wheels to run drag radials. I currently have 750rwhp/750rwtq on a Mustang dyno. To run a drag radial with the same height as current rear tire and not have to change the fronts I can run a Mickey Thompson 305/35/18 ET street radial II or a BFG g-force ta drag radial in 345/30/18. Which tire is going to hook better. The narrower MT or the BFG? I know the tread width is considerably wider with the BFG but I hear alot of good things about the MT et streets. If it is really that much better I could change fronts to a taller tire although brand new and run the 345 MT on the rear also if they are that much better? Any input is appreciated.

I just bought 18 x 12 repros and put 345/30/ MT's drag radials and let me tell you they HOOK. Even on the street with barely warming them up I am able to get about 85-90 percent of first gear to hook. Basically right until the very top of the rpms then they start to spin a hair when im making all the hp and boost. You wouldnt be disappointed. Whatever you get a road force balance if you are getting a large tire. I didnt at first and the car road like crap, got the road force balance and man what a difference.
What exactly is a road force balance? So if your 345's hook that well then maybe i could get by with the 305's? Maybe i should just suck it up and buy all new tires. I just have new rears and fronts so if I could get away with just a set of rear DR's I could just jack up the car and swap with my Nitto's for long trips? But to keep the abs from getting pissed I need a dr that is the same height as my Nitto. Has or does anyone run the BFG drag radial?

Road force balance is a type of balance that you can get with this special machine. Basically it can calculate different forces on the tire at many different spots and actually find the point by spinning the tire on the rim at which they are almost at a equilibrium and then balance it. makes a BIG difference.
You might be able to do the 305's but im certain you will not get 100 percent. im making less rwhp that you and my car can still break em loose at the top of first and im sure if I dumped the clutch off the line it would cook them to too. I ride with Nt05's on the street and are very happy overall with them. First gear is pretty useless on power but second on up is pretty damn good. when I go to the track I run the Mt;s or if I know im going out and will be doing some rolls i throw them on so I know I have all the traction ill need on tap.
Ok, I have another question. Is it ok to run the MT's or the BFG's in back and run a Nitto Invo on the front? does this cause any weird issues?
it is definately "ok" because they are both radials however it may handle alittle weird because they both respond ar different rates like the rear might be wishy washy and the front real tight or vice versa.
I ran the Nt05s in front with mt in back though and worked fine just the mts were softer and you could feel it but it drove fine.
Well thanks for all the info. I actually got a really good deal on some BFG drag radials today an ordered them. I am going to try them as I will be able to use my current front tires. If they don't work as I think they should I will order the MT's and new front tires to work with the Mt's. I appreciate all the help. Thanks......Craig
