Which drag radial?

If you are willing to go to 17 's then go to 18's.
I beleive some of the Nitto, MT's, or Toyo along with the Hoosiers (Grooved) would do.
Personally, I am waiting for the NT05R as I want to keep my 19's.
I am now running Michelin Sport Cups now, and they do hook, but take a month and a day (actually about 25-30min) to "warm up" to traction level.
Another option is Taylor @ Dallas Performance and his SC traction control system (boost by gear). If I were in TX I would give it a try.
Good luck - be CAREFUL - Happy Holidays.

Don't get me wrong, the Hoosiers are SICK. They will dry hook in 3rd at 3,500 rpm's without being completely warmed up and will dry hook 2nd as soon as the carcass is warm. That is the reason I selected the A6 compared to the Michelin Sport Cups or Hoosier R6's. Until some one compares them to the newly anticipated Nitto 345/30/19, they are the lightest, least expensive and stickiest 19" tire on the market - hands down.
I may be asking for the impossible, but I am looking for a tire / wheel combo for Saturday nights that is as lighter and hooks second without being completely warmed up under full power or more when I do a race gas tune.
I hear great things from the MT's, but they are heavy - 35lbs compared to the 29lbs of my A6's. I can make some of that up in wheels, as a set of CCW classic/drags are only 22lbs. There are lighter, but for the money, nothing can touch CCW and I only intend on using them for rolling around on Saturday nights, not full time.
consistent and forgiving at the track. The car
weighed 2850 with me in it and cut 1.3s in the 60 ft. I understand weight is a concern but what good is a
lightweight tire if it doesn't hook. I'd personally focus on what has the best traction and if happens to be the heaviest make up for it with wheels. Besides is it that big of a deal when making a grand to the wheels? Not many cars on the street making those kinds of numbers.

MT all the way. Cant say enough good things about them. They dry hook in second with almost no warming. In summer dry hook like 85 percent in first without warming up. The road force balance made a WORLD of difference. They are smoother than my nT05's on the highway and are awesome at the drag strip. LOTS of cushion in the side wall.
Got tires at summitracing.com and got rims from Jason at Corvettewheels.com...he still owes me some lugs

my car is stock 2006 c6z with a cold air vararam. at the track with the nt-05 60ft were 1.9X's and 2.0x's 10 runs or so and could only get 11.93 @ 123.xxmph best et. next time out with the hoosiers did not know how i should launch or what to expect! bog, spin, etc.... first pass 1.8X 60ft 11.34 @124.XX mph out of the 4 runs that day i got 11.29@124.5Xmph at desity alt of 500 ft . as i recall now i was hooking so good that my clutch was slipping as i launched at around 4000 as i wanted a 10.9x but after the second time i went under 11.50 the track oficial said i was going to fast with out a cage and 5 point etc.... on the street they hook really good with a little dry hop and our weather is cooler up here in the north im pretty sure down south it would be better.
A car with 600rwhp and under can use any of the above and they all hook very good, I broke my Transmission main shalf on the street with a dead hook on M&H, but that was when I was making just around 684rwhp, after that I increased my HP and everything went wrong, I tried all of the above and is now satisfied with the MT 345x35x18 street.
Best of luck and remember its Christmas season, so be safe and drive for the unreasonable idiots. Happy Holidays.
