Just got my car back from my tuner after correcting some small issues and he said that he noticed that the balancer on my Proharged 2005 was wobbeling somewhat. My question is that if I am going to have to change it, is there a better aftermarket balancer that I should consider.
Thanks, I'll check them out. The stock damper is, of course, pinned. I spoke with a GM mech, and he said that it isn't unusual for the dampers to have some movement associated with them, so I will take it to him and let him evaluate if the damper is failing or not. I have heard some horror stories about the damper bolt backing out and causing some serious damage.

I didn't know the stock balancer on a C6 was pinned.It's not on a C5.

My stock Balancer separated & spun forward at hi rpms during an ECS tune til it hit the steering box. It was amazing that it did not throw the 6 rib belt. I had added 3.42 gears weeks earlier & we think that's the reason, because the engine winds up so fast now between the gears & HP it caused the balancer to separate.
Doug from ECS was tuning the car when it happened. Weeks prior to that I noticed belt squeal when the car was cold. Little did I know what was beginning to happen.
Luckily I was at ECS when it happened. They broke their asses for hours in order to get me on the road the same day!!
We went with a 1 piece aftermarket 8 rib, even though I'm still running a 6 rib system.
Go with the Innovators West. They are 8" in diameter vs. 7.5" on the ATI, which will allow you can run larger pulley's up top and reduce / prevent slip. If you are going through the trouble, you may as well do an 8-rib. It will work with the 6 rib accessories if you don't want to convert everythin at once.
