Hi Guys. I had a A & A charger, ARH, and Corsa exhaust installed and tuned. I have a 2008 Auto coupe. When on the highway cruising at about 75 MPH and I hammer the pedal down, the car down shifts 2 or three gears then grabs but starts to buck like crazy until I let off. I suspect I am probably hitting the rev limiter. Anything a guy can do to elliminate this or any thoughts. Thanks.
It appears when this is happening the "traction control active" display comes on. I am at approx. 5800 RPM and doing about 70 MPH. Is it possible it is detecting tire spin? If so anyway of curing this besides kicking out TC mode?
Turn off the TC and see if it still does it. You should know it you are hitting the rev limiter, keep your eye on the hud and see what the RPM's are. Depending on how much HP you are making it is possible to get wheel spin at that point.
I always use competition mode for this reason. You could and most likely are getting some tire spin at these speeds and the traction control is cutting power.
I don't know how much power you are making, but with 543 rwhp and 516 rwtq, the '67 in my avatar (122 magnacharged LS1) would spin the tires hard from a 60 mph roll. I actually got sideways on the freeway once by accident downshifting into 3rd. That was with 335/30/18 Michelin Pilot Sports.
That car obviously didn't have traction control, but it would have been kicking on like crazy at WOT in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gears.
Thanks for the replys guys. I will find a wide open spot and play around with turning off the TC and go to competition mode. I want to learn to walk before I run.
Tried it a few times with the TC off and it seemed to cure the problem. Must of been the traction control pulling out timinmg and fuel. At 70 MPH it almost seemed more dangerous to me for it to kick that stuff out (fuel and timing) then to let the car do its thing. When it surged it threw me around like a rag doll. Good thing I only have a small amount of free space because of my large frame. LOL.
