Default Which meth controller? Why?

I just can't decide which controller would be best suited for me.

The Labonte controller looks and sounds pretty slick on paper. Not to mention, some built-in safety features. Plus the "self-tuning" controller would be helpful 'til I could get it properly tuned. Might be a while before I can get it to a preferred tuner and I just don't know enough about it yet to want to attempt it on my own.

I like the idea of the progressive Alky controller. But as a dual-duty DD/weekend track warrior (drag and road), AND frequently traveling long distances through what will soon be sweltering Southern heat...I think I'd rather have a bit more adjustability for varying conditions.

And the Snow...awesome system, but jeebus it's expensive...especially adding it all up with the additional safety features (sold separately)

What else should I be looking for in a S/C meth setup? It seems that all the systems are pretty much the same other than the controllers.

Thanks for any info.

I don't have one yet both the feature controls on this unit are amazing. Includes a lot of fail safe options too.

Go with ECS's/alkycontrol setup...the way to go! Reliable, progressive, and easy to tune.

The Stage 3 Labonte setup is exactly what I'm wanting and have been looking at for the last month. Seems to be the most versatile controller of the "big 3 meth kits"
Just can't find much in the way of experience with it though. I do LOVE the fact that it would kill 2 A-pillar gauges in one unit.

The Alky system is the most widely used, but no safety features included...they're extra. And it's just a progressive, ramp-style controller.

Same for Snow...the "SafeInjection" controller is an additional $180. But it does look like the best fail-safe available.

And I've read enough horror stories across the various forums to know that I don't want quick disconnects on any high pressure line.
I also would rather use the WW tank to keep the low level warning on the DIC...or at least a warning on the controller if the particular kit comes with its' own reservoir.

I also looked at the new all-inclusive cubby tank from ETMC...but my storage compartments are occupied (BaP in the right, Tools I have to carry for work in the left) so that's definitely out.

I'd like to know a little more of WHY someone would recommend a particular kit. "This guy/team uses it" isn't really valid. "Guys" and "teams" use all of them.

Guess I need to do one of those big comparative feature checklists.

Alky Control... Because it's a time tested and proven system... You do not need all the "bells and whistles" features, you DO NOT want to tune with the methanol system, you want it as "dumb" as possible, all of your air fuel tuning should be done through the "ECM" which is FAR superior to the meth systems "CM"... Period, plain and simple, no methanol control module can hold a candle to the data and sampling ability of the ECM in your C6.

Exactly. Plus it comes with brass or stainless steel fittings (no plastic push in connectors), all the wiring is soldered, and the pump is 100% methanol compatible.

If you go ECS or similar, 2 suggestions. get the mod that brings the bottom of the pump from hanging below the rocker panel, anyone can make a mistake and bust it jacking the car up or something, and get the SS fittings

Dallas Performance can take care of you on all counts, especially the "safe" tune mentioned by MrBig

If you haven't already, give Julio a call and ask him yourself why all those bells and whistles aren't in his kit.... If you want to make a good decision, that's as educated as it gets.

i looked at them all agian last few days. i needed something to control my meth and fuel pump so i went with the cooling mist controller and flow sensor yesterday...

link..

http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=cmgs

cooling mist controller
cooling mist 250 psi pump
cooling mist solenoid (300 psi) instead of check valve
set up like this:

then i sourcing fittings and lines so it will loook the way i want

1st call this a.m. is to dallas performance for thier line kit

so why? well the gauge option is nice. most controllers are hideaway units with led light telling you they working. this setup has flow sensor and led bar graph showing what you are flowing and when. also incorporates a boost gauge so can loose my dedicated boost gauge and keep my dual pod pillar mounting. mutilple failsafe opions. and ability to turn on or off other items like fuel pump ect.

If the meth system uses injector duty cycle to control flow, why isn't that better than boost sensing flow control?

These meth injection systems are not super complicated, and there is no reason to make it that way. It's a pump, line, filter, nozzle, and map sensor. Just get quality parts. I've been happy with my Alky Control kit. Julio provided great service as well.

Keep it simple and have a responsive resource for questions during install and tuning. Julio at Alky Control provides both of these. I looked at all of the systems and bells and whistles out there including trunk locations for storage, failsafes, etc. In the end locating the storage reservoir as close to the injectors(ww bottle) as possible for instant response to the injectors, and utilizing the car's ECU through the IAT sensor as failsafe were the simplest. By adjusting the existing IAT timing tables and/or low octane timing tables(automatic default if system senses knock) you can even have a redundant failsafe. The Alky Control system also has (3) tuning parameters for initial spray, curve, and ramp. What more do you need?

I'm running the Snow kit and it's a very simple install and no extra safety add ons. The pump is located inside the front left fender.

My car is tuned only by the "ECM" and the meth is just an extra bonus..

ECS Alky control kit. Why? Because we consistently make the most power with it and I have worked with just about all of them. Plus I do not care for the plastic hoses and fittings that come with other kits.
