This question may have been asked already in a previous thread. I am wondering, what car would be quicker....a Z06 with nitrous or one with a supercharger. I'm interested in straight line speed not road racing. I know there are MANY other variables to think about as well so this may be difficult to answer in brief.
there are MANY other variables to think about like how much boost, how much spray! how long would it last before Kaboom!!! nitrous would be cheaper to do! but i really think supercharger done right would win!
If all variables were equal between the 2 cars, meaning good traction ,good drivers, and peak hp is the same the nitrous car will run off from the blower due to the nitrous cars power is instataneous and doesnt have to wait for boost. It has been my experience with street cars that a blower car needs a 75-100hp advantage over a nitrous to out run it in a 1/4 mile.
Again all things be equal I agree!! The key is traction and most of the time that is what wins the race unless you are doing 70mph roll ons.
I always reference the old EVO's and the local 740awhp car....from a 40-140mph kick car did not lose once. They had more powerful cars, but they would all spin on the hit enough for him to jump out in front. The car trapped 144mph anyway, so unless you were packing alot more MPH you weren't catching him.

If both cars have same HP then nitrous will win. Nitrous also cools air stream (do to expansion and absorbing heat), while air temps steadily rise with supercharger.
That being said supercharger is always there and doesn't require frequent refills... It may come down to driving preferences or how often you will use the power.
I have never driven a nitrous car, but have gone up against them and they definetely hit hard. They seem like a PIA on the street...preheating, pressure, sequencing, refills, etc., but a professionally plumbed direct port system looks nasty as hell. Could always do both...just in case you need a little extra oomph.

Thank you. Again I know this was a pretty vague question but this was the sort of info (your response) that I was looking for. Thanks again!
So is it FI or nitrous with the fastest mile time??

Which car has the QUICKEST mile time??
Boosted vehicles are the record holders at the mile as far as the majority of the really fast 200+ mph guys go. I do not know the answer as to why but Im guessing on street cars that go over 200 it usually requires 1000+ hp, and I would guess it's easier for a boosted car to make that power for 20-30 secs than a nitrous car. That's my opinion anyway.
Thats not even close to being the mile record. Lingenfelter holds the record for a vette at 226? The current record held by the Ford GT is being contested but its over 260mph.
