Default How come?

Been on this board going on 6 years and it still amazes me the number of negative posts regarding FI. What gets me cranked is very few actually have owned an FI car but most have horror stories about grenaded engines and how everything went wrong.

I'm getting an E Force installed by ECS in Sept and really looking forward to it. Do I expect the engine to last as long as a NON FI one.. NO I don't! However I have 18,000 miles on an 06 so that's really not an issue unless it pukes driving home from NJ! I crunched all the numbers and simply couldn't justify trading for a Z... would cost me well over 20k for anything I was interested in.

So for less than half that amount I'll be getting a pretty decent bump in HP and a conversation piece too! My car is in perfect condition so why should I almost give it away to get something with more power? I'm also upgrading the cooling system and that's about it. I'' drive it and see how it goes from there.

I did get to test drive a FI 08 and it was great.... really enjoyed all the extra power!

Bottom line I'll never understand all the negative comments how FI wrecks the car, DOESN'T WORK, blows up the engines, blah blah blah coming from people that have never owned or even driven one. On the other hand we all know what they say about opinions..

I guess I haven't seen those. Especially in the FI forum. Or maybe I just block them out. Now there are friendly debates over PD VS: centri units but I certainly don't think anyone is going to come down on you for getting the E-force. It's proving to be one of the more reliable power adders. It does have it's limits though.

In any case, learn to tune out the FI haters. It will be easier to do with the E-Force screaming.

thanks! You're right it's mainly in the GENERAL section not over here! All these freaken instant experts bashing FI and have ZERO personal experience with it. I'm not looking for 600 hp + so the E-Force with a mild boost and tune is perfect for what I want.. for now. I wanted to do a FI for awhile but all the negative comments did influence me. Yep things can go wrong as I'm well aware. Almost all my cars were modded (engines) years ago so I'm aware of potential problems from modding... but I really am bored with the current HP on my vette... Thanks again....

Its jealousy from the waxers, plain and simple.

I'm confident the the E-Force will give you what you want without needing to go crazy upgrading other things like the fuel system, driveline, cooling, etc.

BTW, is ECS putting on the soon to be released LS2 version of the E-Force or are you swapping heads to use the current LS3 version?

It's the E Force for the LS2..... no head change necessary!

Thanks... I like the way the unit looks factory and it seems pretty well engineered. Very aware there are lots of more powerful FI units out there but this fits what I'm trying to do. I'm also dropping in a Dewitt Rad which I was going to do anyway. Also increasing the rubber size with new CCW wheels. It was time for new tires so no biggie there either...

It's a weekend machine and the modest boost in power should keep it fun to drive...

ECS has the LS2 kit at their facility now and are doing some installs in the next couple of weeks. I'll let the OP answer you question as to what is being done to his Vette.
