Default E-Force Supercharger

I recently had an e-force SC put on my base 2007 C6. After a couple trips back to the shop for cold start up calibration issues it seems to run great. Pulled 506hp and 460ft lb on the dyno. The only slight issue is that every now and then I get a faint smell of coolant. The shop checked it out for leaks, etc and came up with nothing. Anyone have any thoughts of what's causing this?

Check your intercooler connections really well. They use the same 50-50 mix and if there is any leakage it might be that... Keep checking your coolant level in it also, make sure the cap is sealing properly. Put some cardboard under your car after taking it out for a spirited drive and see if anything leaks..... Might just be the shop spilled some while refilling everything when they were done..

BTW.. nice numbers.. which kit did you install?

Thanks. Good suggestions. It's an Edelbrock e-force. Same Eaton core as used on the ZR1. Runs great. Just hard to keep the stock goodyears on the pavement. I plan to upgrade to Michelin PS2's next spring.

I have the same setup on my 06... made about the same hp! I'm now running 325 Nito's and it's helped with traction issues. Not cured them but now it's a lot more fun to drive..... What kit # did you use?

I guess the question should of been, which E-Force. There are two kits making two different levels of power.

Sorry, I think I know what you mean now. I have the base kit for the LS2. The optional fuel pump is supposed to add another 45hp or so. The base kit was $6500 plus $1000 for install calibration and dyno-ing. The fuel pump was only $400 more, not sure on the labor. I have all the power I need right now. In fact as I said above, I need better tires to get them to stick. If after an ugrade in tires I get the traction I need, I may add the fuel kit but likely not. I'm also concerned that I'll start getting into the area of drive train breakage.

The extra cost kit includes a smaller pulley for more boost. That's where the extra 50 HP comes from . It also comes with the Z06 fuel pump so you don't run out of fuel with the extra air your pumping in.

I second the opinion that your installer may have spilled some antifreeze and that is what you are smelling. I'll tell you why I think so. Antifreeze doesn't evaporate with time. If you have a puddle somewhere under the hood it's going to be there a long time before it dries up. Every time the engine is warmed up you are going to smell it. I had the exact problem and it drove me nuts looking for a leak for weeks until I located "the puddle". The photo below is taken with the passenger side Edelbrock fuel rail cover off. If you look closely at the photo at the end of the screwdriver you'll see a small antifreeze puddle in that plastic doofer that attaches to the frame rail. I'm not sure of it's purpose but it sits directly below the supercharger coolant reservoir and right below where one of the two coolant lines is attached. It would have been very easy for your installer to have spilled some coolant which is now trapped in that plastic tray. Pop your passenger side cover off and take a look. Hopefully that's the source.

It will not hurt if you simply hose down the bottom portion of the engine... NOT WITH A PRESSURE SPRAY.... just to rinse off any anti-freeze that might have been spilled....

...lots of places for antifreeze to puddle on the engine cradle.

Thanks guys. I sprayed the engine off with a hose and the smell is gone. Never did see the coolant but must have been a small amount pooled somewhere. Great advice and easy.
