Default Tapping oil pan for return line

On the A&A Ysi they show the return line entering the oil pan at driver side front next to the balancer. Does it really matter where this return line is located on the pan as long as its high? I already have a keyed ATI Superdamper and would like to avoid removing the steering rack again if possible.

I did it up high on the passenger side on a turbo app. Much easier to get to than the front spot. It is on a half ton GMC, but that was the easiest place to get to. As long as it's above the oil level in your pan, I can't see where it would make any difference.

As high as possible with the hose as short as possible without any dips in the line. Not sure where else you'd put it. I think you can get away with not pulling the balancer but the rack will probably need to come out to make enough room for the drill.

I have seen a picture of the return coming in around the oil filter area.
It doesn't matter much where it goes as long as it is goes straight down to the pan.

Not a supercharger, but maybe this helps...

I'd stay on passenger side to keep drain line away from belt, just in case it breaks.

That is the area where Vortec says to drill for the return line. They have a picture on their web site for the supercharger install instructions.

I take it you don't have transmission cooling lines that ride the side of the pan in that location. I will have to go a little lower than that.

Vortech actually shows separating the cooling lines and mounting the return feed line between the two cooling lines in their instructions. Do you think it is that critical to be exactly 1.5" from the oil pan mounting surface of the block?

Im sure you don't want it much lower than that, but its hard to say for sure. I don't have those lines so I just found a spot that looked good for me and drilled it

Just make sure that it is above the oil line in the pan.

I highly recommend getting hold of Bret, blownbluez06, and buying a quick disconnect setup from him....and his line shield.
