Default Blew my motor

Well it finally blew. Was having some fun with a few friends and motor blew. Not too bad since I put about 3K supercharged miles and 9 gals of methanol through my stock internals LS7. I'm suprised it lasted this long. Anyway I'll be down about a month. Car is at Taylors (Dallas Performance) now, lots of metal including pieces of spring came out of the oil. I had Taylor order me a badass LSX 434 shortblock for tons of boost. Keep on the lookout for my build updates. Should be interesting.

This is not a bash LS7 thread either, I beat the hell out of the car when I drove it, I had 9psi, big cam and methanol. The car put down 770rwhp/667rwtq so it was a matter of time. Now I get to make it faster

That nice to know as I'm just going FI with a stock LS7 motor only 5-6lbs though. I'll be on look out for your build update. Can you PM me the cost of that motor I'm sure there may be one in my future.

piston crack'd or a exhaust valve would be a few options...

Modded LS7'S and stock valve trains don't go well together, but you knew that, and are taking it well, it was a blast while it was together!!!

I have close to 25k on my A&A kit. About 7k of that on my Ls-7. I don't plan blowing my engine, but I don't beat the snot out of it. But it gets a sprirted romp now and then. It has no meth 8psi and about 100 rwhp less than your numbers.

But if you really think it was about time it blew. And suspected it was going to blow? Why on earth would you not just pull the engine. Swap in the new one.

Since it WAS worth alot more than the Scrap Value it is worth now!
You still could have made it faster with more money and less expense.

Damn! 9psi on a stock LS7 for 10,000 miles??? I'd say you did pretty good! Good luck with the new motor.

For some they do! There are a lot of boosted Ls-7's. Very little failure.
The ls-7 likes boost! Don't blame it on the engine! Some people can blow up or ruin ANYTHING!
No telling, what the tune was. How the driving was? What gas was in it?
I have caught the gas attendant trying to put 87 in before. I watch
everytime. Yes they by law must fill the gas here. You get get fined for touching the pump.
The blind statement like that doesn't fit all!

Because I wasn't ready to spend the money and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the car. I was just enjoying it. I figured it will either last or it won't. I guess I got my answer. The block has no holes adn no leaking fluid so the block may be salvageable, we'll see monday.

We pump our own gas out here ( I actually moved here from Portland, OR so I know what you mean about the fines), it had 93 octane and my meth was full and working. Jeremy (Mr.Big) knows my car very well as we are friends and have the same builder. It wasn't the tune/gas/meth etc. I'm sure it was that I beat on it 1 too many times. I was in the top of 4th gear almost to redline at 165 when it blew. Taylor (Dallas Performance) is the reason it lasted sooo long. The tune was safe and spot on. Now on to bigger and better things

You sound like you drove the car!! Many times these cars just sit in garages and when the owner says "I get on it every so often" they mean accelerating to 100mph once a week.

They always blow, sooner or later; heck even a bone stock engine has a very finite lifetime; what's the big surprise that it only lasts 10k when making nearly double what it was designed to do?
Good luck with the new build. I want to do a boosted Z06 next but I'm not sure I can get it to last even at low boost with the way I drive :-/

Good luck with the new build! Except with proper care AND
driven correctly a stock motor is good for 300,000! I put 125,000
on a LS-1 and some else drove it for years after that. One of my fleet has 208,000 and still runs great. I'd say more like stock they are hard to wear out. Most sell them first.
