Default drag radial sensor?

I have a 2008 Z06 what kind of problems will I have if a do not run rear sensors? Should I just buy some sensors? I have 3 sets of rear tires can I just switch them out or will I have to program at dealer everytime?
Here are my new tires 335-30-18 Hossier and Nitto NTO5R 345-30-19

You'll get a warning on the dash. That's about it. I drove around on bigs and littles for a while and never had a problem, just an annoying warning on the DIC every now and then.

Will it affect performance any? and how wide a rim for the hoosier 335-30-18 I had some Z06 repro's and thought they were 12inch but are only 10.5inch so I don't think they will work.

No need to get sensors programmed at a dealer. You can get a TPMS programmer for around $100 and do it yourself.

You can turn active on and off easily, it's getting it into competition mode that it doesn't allow sometimes.

I'm very interested in the answer to this. I'm digging the hoosiers (or other DRs (M&H)) in 18s, but don't want to have to buy a completely new set of 4 matching rims. Would love if someone made Z06 fronts in 12inches. anyone?

Nick.. you are right you cant turn AH & TC off only TC, also if you have sensors you cant lower air pressure in the drs lower then 24lbs or you will go into limp mode

I just went through this same dilemma myself......

I ended up just running my rear drag wheels (17" C5 Z06 wheels) without any sensors at all. I did not have any issues, and I drove them on the street for at least several 5+ mile trips as well as probably 15 quarter mile passes. In fact, I think the whole time it was still reading rear pressure on the DIC for some strange reason. I don't think I even got any warning lights.

I thought about running sensors in the drag wheels, but then you need to buy a calibration tool and still have the issue of warning lights/reduced functions if you want to run low pressure at the track.

I actually started building 2 little "tubes" out of ABS that could pressurize the sensors and be kept in the rear cubbies @ 30 psi. You would still have to calibrate them, but you could run any pressure you want in the tire and all vehicle systems should work perfectly. In the end, I didn't have to do this. Like I said above, mine worked great without any rear sensors.

BTW, mine is a 2008.

I ran low tire pressure for the last 3 months with the light on and it did every thing I wanted it to do and never put it into "limp" mode

I have a 2008 also and don't have any sensors in my present wheels which I have been running for about a year, the only time I get a warning is when I first start up to drive, I preset the dic and good to go, once or twice I did had issues to turn on Competetion mode but I shut the car down for a while and everything is back to normal as I start up again

You will need a minimium of 12" for those tires, maybe you can buy my set of 18" back and front with almost new oem front tires.

House of wheels has them (O6-o8 ZO6) in 18x12 but I wanted them to match my ZR1 wheels. Thats why I have the Nitto's in a 19inch, they make a ZR1 wheel in 19x12. I think I will just buy a set of ZO6 18x12 they cost around 600.00 for a rear set shipped.

Just put 2 sensors in a 3" caped PVC tube and fill it with 30lbs of air. Then program
them in with the front 2.I've got reduced power when I ran 16lbs in the back tires. My car is a 06.

Nope, traction control on or off are your only choices, you cannot shut active handling off or put the car in competition mode with the TPMS sensors reading low.

I briefly disconnected the battery and it reset the reading, and I turn it off before even moving and could not because the TPMS had not re read. So after 30 minutes of head scratching I read the manual which states what I just did as well.

Remember those wheels are very heavy compared to the OEM wheels or the CCW wheels. Rotating weight?????????

Where did you find your Nittos? I have been trying to find a set for a week. I found a guy who had one tire on a Viper forum, but he called his supplier and was told that in two weeks Nitto will start making Invos and they will make the NT05Rs at the same time. So he said look for them in about a month.

I saw chrome, black, and comp grey...do you know if they have the factor silver? I would be rocking those with some super sticky M&H rears! The problem I'm running into is finding stock looking rears in 18x12 so I don't have to buy all new rims.
