Default Installing New Battery w/E-Force

I will be installing a new battery on my 07 with an E-Force. Just checking to see if anyone has done this and has any helpful advice on what's involved since the intercooler tank is mounted around the battery and the battery is impossible to remove with the tank in place.

It looks like I might be able to disconnect the tank brackets and swing it up enough without having to drain it and removing the hoses. I'll soon find out but again, any advice is appreciated. I tried to call Edelbrock several times and finally gave up while waiting on hold.

This interests me greatly! I've wondered how the hell to get at the battery!

I have also wondered about battery removal/replacement with the intercooler reservoir occupying space above the battery. I would think by loosening the reservoir bracket you can lift or move the tank enough, allowing room for battery removal. Let us know how you solve this problem.

With a 10mm ratchet wrench those two bolts can be off in 30 seconds. Depending on how you routed the lower hose you should be able to lay the reservoir out of the way. Worst case you may have to pop the upper hose off...one spring loaded hose clamp.

Thanks Ken, I will be giving that a try in the next couple of days. I will let everyone know how it went. I'm hoping that it's not necessary to remove any hoses.

Also, I will be changing the cabin filter at the same time as the tank blocks the removal of the filter as well.

Make sure you mark the position of the hood latch before loosening or removing the latch bolts. The hood latch can be finicky. Marking the latch position will help return the latch to its original position. This can save you time adjusting the latch upon project completion.

Dont need to remove the hood latch, just loosen the I/C tank and swing out the way, Tried and tested, takes 2 mins

did a few weeks ago. Not that bad. Would be nice to put a cap on the upper end of the reservoir tank to limit spillage. I stuffed a rag into mine-not the best way to go. It sure helped to have one of those battery straps to lower the battery into the small hole. Fortunately I had one for my golf cart batteries.

Thanks for the tip, I will be installing my new battery tomorrow. I plan on using a zip lock bag with some elastic bands to seal the top of the intercooler tank to catch anything that leaks out.

Ok, I finally had some time to install my new Optima battery this morning while waiting the arrival of Irene. It took about an hour taking my time since this was the first time with the E-Force installed.

As Motorhead-47 mentioned, it was just a matter of loosening the two 10 mm bolts holding the intercooler tank and swinging it carefully out of the way. The hoses have enough flexibility to allow you to reposition it. The rest of the procedure was the same as a stock install. I was able to slide the battery toward the engine and turn it on its side and lift it and remove it. The install process was just the reverse. I also installed a new cabin filter at the same time as you would also have to move the intercooler tank to replace it. Even thought the Optima comes with a battery strap, I found it not necessary and removed it before installing it.

I feel a lot more comfortable about the possibility of replacing the battery while on the road after seeing that it is not that difficult.

There was no issue of the tank leaking from the top cap so I didn't need to cover that area to prevent spillage.

I don't think you will get a response. The last post on this thread was in 2011 (14 years ago) and the OP last posted in 2018.

It should be as simple as un bolting the reservoir from the brackets and then bending the reservoir with the hoses attached out of the way. You may need to unbolt the brackets from the mounting positions as well. Just take your time with it.

I'm curious, if it's so difficult to access and change the battery with the eforce installed, why aren't you guys relocating it to the cargo area like the Z cars?
