Chris I have the same goals in mind and had my shop design a build. They're also thinking a 390 ci LS2. I wonder if either of our setups will be able to dethrone the 6 speed record. Were now looking at upgrading the inlet side piping to be bake to support the boost. Do you have any pictures of what you did? I thought I read in another post you ditched the pancake pipes. Ever figure out your oil pressure issue?
Chris
I'm not really going to any records, I just want to be able to enjoy driving my car again right now LOL I'm actually pulling my engine out tomorrow because I want to take a look behind the rear engine cover and pull the oil pan to inspect.
As far as my inlets, I am running screens as of right now. I do have a pair of mushroom filters that I would like to test to see if they hinder any performance, but Ill need to get the oil pressure in check before it goes back to any rollers.

What about the valves in those heads? Still stock?

Mast Motorsports 6 bolt heads and call it a done deal. If it's a budget type deal I understand using stock heads, but if you are spending a decent amount of money on the car then there is no reason NOT to buy yourself some nice heads. Less headaches in the long run and it will be well worth it. 6 bolt = more clamping force and reliability, and nice heads will also yeild you running less boost which means less cylinder pressure but it also depends on how much power you are wanting out of it. I'm sure you have that disease just like everyone else, you will ALWAYS want more
Dragonslayer with lighweight upgrade
Ultra rods
for turbo heads TEA TFS 235's are hard to beat for the money. PI, Mast, etc. are good as well. Let me know if you are interested in my 1000cc injectors. I may go e85 and step up to the 2000's.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I know the MAST stuff is top of the line, but I can't afford that stuff until I get done with school. Of course this build may take place then if my current motor is OK. We will see...
John, I already have some ID1000's, but thanks for the offer. I wonder what they will support on E85? I have a brand new E85/CNG station just minutes from my house.
Definately dragonslayer crank. I would also run the new ultra rods. Their not that much more. Only a few hundred bucks. Personally, I would NOT o-ring the block. Not only is it not really necessary nowadays, it has its own set of problems.
We are currently doing the exact same thing. We chose to go with a Gen IV 5.3 aluminum block (it is the strongest of ALL aluminum LS blocks), and had Steve over at RED sleeve it for us. I was concerned about head sealing issues as well, so I had him drill the block out for 1/2" head studs. We also dowled the mains, and used GMPP billet main caps.
Lastly, we went with a nice thick deck set of heads. There was a few other small things, but what I mentioned above was the main part. We also went bananas with ceramic coating. We had the valves, (Ti Intake, Inconel Exhaust), Chambers, piston tops, piston skirts, and rings all ceramic coated. Hopefully, this keeps the heat in check.
IMHO this should do well for a solid 1000+rwhp motor, using our TTi-x 62/65 T4 turbos w/.82ar.
Thanks Jeff, Thats really what I had in mind because I've been told these turbos are only good for 1,000-1,100 RWHP, so I wanted something that would last.
Also, I was pretty set on getting the motor built soon, as it is a perfect time because I'm pulling my forged LS1 out as I type, but then I got hit with the hard truth of how much my honeymoon is going to cost haha I'll definitely keep the thread updated if it turns out sooner than I figure it will.
