I was standing at the starting line watching from behind, and I can tell you I saw the entire hood from behind ! I've never seen an IRS car do that before, the car was definately on a pass though.

Mark, can you go into any detail on why your car has such heavy black smoke when running down the track? Is that intended or are there tuning kinks that still need to be worked out? Forgive my ignorance

Mark will tell you himself it's not a 6 until you run a 6. Its not about who has the fastest MPH. It's about ET's.

It is always easier to just be both... and we will
as for yesterday's outing...
We had a really good outing, but unfortunately I only really made 1 1/4 mile hit... that hit was a 7.14@203 with only 32PSI out the back... We could turned it up the next hit and pulled a 1.19 60' and ended up pulling another double power wheelie... this one wasn't as violent as the last one, so we went back up with weight moved around and suspension changes and the car spun.
We decided it would be better to pack up whole and go to Indy than to risk the car anymore.
So for now, Sal holds the IRS record and I can only say congrats to him... but we will be out soon and we will get it.
Some other accomplishments from yesterday were:
Best 1/8th mile was a 4.68 with a 1.260 60' and a 3.18 330'... this was done on 275's!
Best 60' was on the 315's and it was a 1.19!
I also got my Hans device figured out and am now comfortable wearing it and we did much better bringing down the car from the power wheelies.
I do have video of the first part of the power wheelie, but my camera guy got excited and pointed the camera at the ground so he could watch the wheelie unfold.
Hopefully other videos will surface.

Thanks for the update Mark.
The wheelie looked like it slammed the front down pretty violently. Did it damage anything in the process?

I'd pay a few shiny quarters to have a high res photo of the first power wheelie.. just sayin
Glad to hear nothing major was broken. 6s are right around the corner

Holy hell. So from this point, is it more a question of redistributing some weight or recalibrating the boost curve to keep the front half at just a hover? What do you guys have it referenced against currently, if you can say?
Additionally, every time I come back to this thread and see the numbers dropping again and again, it makes my day. I can imagine it's become quite the commitment now to stay after this and I would assume I speak for quite of few of us shade-tree, driveway-wrench types in that we appreciate you taking the time out just to keep all of us in the loop and along for the ride. Not too many venues out there where the guys literally on the cutting edge are still within social earshot.
As always, too cool. Thank you.
