Auto is way easier to drive which makes much quicker
Look at the Z06 fast list and see how many have converted to auto.
By no means am I arguing which one is faster, but like I said, this isnt a quest to hit mid-low 9's this is a quest for the best all around enjoyable monster of a car that will see some limited track duty.
If this was going to be a drag car I would get $3K 4TH GEN roller car and build a monster on the cheap.
If you want to sample a stock bottom end LS2 with an ECS 1500 making 720 whpr on a 6 speed manual, pm me. I am 10 - 15 minutes from the shop. Give me enough lead time to work it into the schedule. If you ask me, LS2 or LS3. I personally like the narrow body and with some widened rims, it's still a sleeper.
My set up has 5000 miles on it since the install. Runs like a raped ape and definitely worth going forced induction. My only regret was waiting 3 years to do it.

Reason: Damn iPad
Buy GS then head down to ECS drop off some cash. Get their novi 1500 American racing headers ECS blower cam some alky and a clutch. Then call ur stock broker and by stock in Nitto! Lol.
Nick- I know this is by far the most bad *** way to go and that would be the plan if i go with the GS, No matter which way I go though, I will be having the boys down at ECS push the envelope with the power for sure.
I went in to full boost probably 20 times yesterday on my 402 at 825rwhp and little novi 1500. There are a lot of guys here in the 900+hp range that daily drive or beat on their cars all the time.
Z06 gets you the better trans, better rear end, and many upgrades that will get costly on the GS. For the money saved you can easily do forged pistons or a fully forged motor that can take 1000+hp. Used z06 is by far the way to go in this case.

I have no doubt about the reliability of boosted ls2 or ls3 motors, it was just that i was surprised that bladez's ls7 was holding up to that kind of boost

I think this argument right here is swaying me, not to mention that the z is lighter and I can pull the ls7 sell it, and stick a ls3 forged stroker motor in there and boost away

I'd never buy a NEW car with the intention of immediately dropping a blower on it.
The only two reasons why I was leaning towards new with a GS is that the used ones are retaining their value really well, so for not much more then a few thousand dollars over a used one I could get a new one that I had from day one and wouldn't encounter any surprises, especially since I would be throwing away the warranty.
I would not downgrade a Z06 to a car with LS3 engine. A pre-owned Z06 (2010/2011) will get you a great car and forging that 427 still gives you plenty room to grow.
On the FI, I'd certainly consider a TT. Nothing like a TT Z06,I even take that over a ZR1 :-)
Z06 & ZR1 are one a different level car than Coupe or GS. They're made to race.

It wouldn't be a downgrade to put a forged 427 into a z06. Who cares if it started as a 5.3L truck motor or a ls3. Once it is sleeved/built and has ls7 heads it is far from a downgrade.
