Maybe a C6 dipstick makes it easy in a C5? It sure as hell is not easy on my car. Broke 1 off, and almost broke another. Total PITA, and I already bought a Lokar for the next time I have to touch the damn thing.

I expected it to fight me based on what you said Joe but it was no problem. Maybe your AFR heads don't have the provision for it and you had to bend it to get it on the manifold bolt? I used the hole just above the manifold bolt holes. Wasn't sure if that was where it went before the swap but it is fully seated and lined up perfect and the tube fit exactly between the # 4 and #6 runners. Not a vette but here is the hole I used:

if you have the later design dipstick that bolts to the head on the C5 it is essentially the same as the C6. The early tube that bolted to the exhaust manifold with the long tab is the one that needs some tweaking, I usually drill and tap the plug in the TTi manifold and bolt that one their.

On the TTi-X I always found that buying the Locar Locking dipstick is amazing. Not only is it flexible, but it locks as well. It makes using the TTi kit soo much nicer. Yeah, its like 40-60 bucks, but it is well worth it IMHO

Lame updates tonight; Power restored, passenger inlet/filter pipe mounted, fuel rail installed, leaked, and reomoved for more welding, coil packs, plugs, wires with fire sleeves installed. PS fluid, coolant, break in oil filled. After the rail comes back I just need to put some oil in the AC compressor, ATF in the tranny (as a lot was lost when the cooling lines came off), run vacuum lines to the wastegates and BOVs and I think I'm ready to fire it up.

****ing **** **** mother ****er!
I got done buttoning up things and was like, "I'm ready to start this bitch up". So I do and my daughter comes out to see what the racket is (open downpipes) and says "why is there water all over the floor"?. The motor had been running all of ~10 seconds as I waited for pressure to build but it never got above ~5 PSI. Shut it down and looked on the floor and there was ~4 qts of oil dumped on the ****ing floor! Coming from the bell housing. Jeff (inspector12) said he has seen where the bolts holding the rear cover on were too long not allowing it to seat fully. I put the rear cover on while it was still on the engine stand so it was tough to see. The bolts were tight but may have been bottoming out before pulling the rear cover in all the way.If the rear cover wasn't in all the way the rear oil galley crossover would spew oil inthe cover and then out. This has to be the problem because there is no oil on top of the bellhousing. I know for sure I put the barbell in. Even if I didn't it wouldn't make oil pressure but wouldn't spew oil all over the ****ing floor.
So the rear of the car that has felt neglected gets to be worked on now. I have to yank the entire drivetrain to get at the back of the motor. Much easier than yanking the motor again but still a pain in the ****ing dick.

Holy crap! Are you kidding me right now? Someone has my kinda luck? I wish it wasn't true buddy. Be careful, if you keep this up, someone's gonna make a cool video about you. (inside joke for those who didn't get that one). I hope you find and resolve it soon, with no permanent scars.

That sucks so bad, Bill. I wish that everything went smoothly for you! Best of luck with the fix and like Bret stated, hope you resolve it very soon.

This build was going way too fast and way too well. You must go through some of the pain i went though.
Good luck. It is only time spent. You will get it done and be driving it in no time.
