Trust me. 9psi is too much for the street in first and second gear. On my 345 MTs, at 9psi in second gear, it will just bounce off the limiter as soon as the turbos spin up unless I've previously melted the tires down.

5 Lite Eater that is a sick build you have going there. It has to be a good feeling to be putting it all together yourself. What kind of machine work did of machine work did Powerfab do to the exhaust housings? Did they enlarge the waste gate opening?

Yea it feels pretty good, assuming it doesn't grenade. But I've seen plenty of "professionally" built motors eat themselves so if this one does the blame falls squarely on my which is how I want it.

PowerFab just ordered the new .82 AR housings from Turbonetics for me. They had the best price. I suppose someone could have machined the .63 AR housings out to ~.82 AR but I didn't really look around for that once I took apart my turbos and found the turbine housing I was able to get a good part number for the .82 housings.

Do you think you will have it ready for the Texas Meet? I will be at the meet spectating. Next year I will bring either my Supra or Vette.

I totally understand. My turbos are up for a rebuild. I will be there from March 16th through the 19th. I have to decide which car I am bringing next year so I can get it ready.

Took care of some random stuff while I'm waiting for my turbos and my rings to come in.

Picked up a Jaz cat/puke can from Summit. Tapped another port on it and mounted it where the battery used to be. I'll run both valve covers and the valley cover to it. No PCV, just breathing.

Got the EBII most of the way installed. Here's how I mounted the solenoid down by the meth pump/washer reservoir:

Hogged out the bottom hole of the triple A-pillar to fit the EBII which is bigger than most gauges. Looks good.

This is the rat's nest that is my wide band, Aeroforce Interceptor, Alky Control and Turbosmart. Needs some cleaning up. Hope to button this up tomorrow.

A friend of a friend reminded me to port the wastegate ports and it's a good thing he did. I don't have my .63 AR housings to compare but the .82 AR housings I got have a 20mm wastegate port. The actual wastegate is >30mm and the hole in the downpipe is a lot bigger. You can see the difference here:

Ported:

Big difference:

Good progress Bill! Oh I remember the cleaning up of wires after all my gauges, wideband and Alky install. I took 7 days tho so it's all tidy and almost impossible to notice

I trust the guy who mentioned about porting the wastegate ports blindly! Good thing you got that taken care of

Looking great, Bill. I did the same thing with my valve covers, valley cover to the breather tank.

Sunday all I was able to get done was to drill and tap the oil pan for the turbo oil drans. I'm so glad I didn't have the pan on for this as the only bit I had big enough for the 1/2" NPT was a unibit and it threw chips everywhere, inside and outside the pan.

But...today (Tuesday) my extra rings came in so I was able to finish up the short block.

I know it looks catty-whompus but it took two washers and a split washer on all of the studs to get the clearance I wanted for the stroker crank on both sides (~.060").

Finally using up some parts!

Tomorrow I will be clearancing the front cover for the double roller. I'm waiting on lifter tray BOLTS of all things until I can drop the LS7 lifters in and then put the heads on. My turbos should ship tomorrow from Forced Inductions. Can't say I'm happy with the time it took them to do a pretty simple job and the constant hounding I had to do but if they don't have any issues then I'll be happy. I would like them here this weekend as I think I'll be ready to drop the motor in then but I doubt that will happen.

Dude be happy. At least you didn't get F'd over motor by a renowned Vendor with every lie under the sun for 3 months! Once I start my build thread I won't fail to mention.

You will be tuning that thing before you know it

That is so not fair that your got a timing set that fit on the first try.

The washers on the windage tray is normal along with drilling larger holes for the studs.

You can get new lifter tray bolts from the dealer for a few bucks so you can move forward...lol.

Yea thanks for working out the chain length issue for me with N-Motion.

I know drilling and washers are normal but it seems like I used more washers than most others did. Just means I have to pay super extra attention to the pickup clearance.

Tray bolts will be here tomorrow. Pretty sure the motor is going to be able to go in this weekend, turbos or not.

You are going to have a hell of a time with the oil pan. Plan on grinding out all of the ribbing flush to the base of the pan.

Normally, we use 1-2 washers, then we "Massage" the tray in order to get the rod bolts to clear.
A couple years ago I learned all to well what happens when you dont clearance it. I had LME build me a complete 454lsx longblock from oil pan to intake. When I fired it up, the motor clearanced the tray itself. Lets just say 14K went up in smoke in a matter of minutes. ALL because they forgot to clearance the tray.. It was not a pretty sight.

DO NOT install the motor without the turbos. You literally add 50% more work when you do that. It is a TOTAL P.I.T.A when you do that. I did it once, and I will never do it again.
