Default TTIX, Forged 408 Build

My LS2/ECS Novi 1500 had been performing well at over 700 RWHP for quite some time. So much so that I got a little bored with it. That and a few *** draggings I took were enough to have the mod bug bite me pretty hard.

Thanks to Nouman (FactoryRaceCar) I was able to take things up a notch. He was just beginning the process of upgrading his TTIX kit to 3" downpipes and 62/65 turbos. Because we're bestys he made me an incredible offer on his old stuff, I'd have been stupid not to jump on it. Since TTI doesn't sell their kit incomplete we just had him get a whole new kit and I took the new cold side parts and manifolds along with his old turbos, wastegates and 2.5" downpipes. Confused? Well, long story short is I have myself a TTIX kit.

Here are Nouman's old parts which just came in the other day after the boys at RPM Transmission de-installed them:

They are T04B-H3 Turbonetics ball bearing turbos with .63 AR housings on them.

I'm sending these to Forced Inductions to be looked over before they go in and I'm getting some .82 turbine housings from Jeremy at PowerFab here in town to better match the below motor.

I really wanted to see what the TTIX kit would do ont the same motor and boost level as my ECS kit but everyone and their brother was giving me hell for wanting to put the kit on my stock LS2 short block which was debatably maxes out on the ECS setups pushing ~725 RHP. It didn't make much sense to do all of this to only be able to push the short block another 50-75 HP. It took a lot of hounding but I gave in and started looking for engine parts. I found a deal on an LQ4/9 block, Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons and SCAT stroker crank. Most of these parts are at USA Racing Engines being machined right now.

The pistons were going to put my compression higher than what I wanted so I picked up a set of 317 heads (on Craigslist, along with an engine hoist) which are also at the Wop Shop (USA Racing Engines) being freshened up. These along with some LS9 head gaskets should put me at ~10.3:1. ARP head studs of course.

The ECS blower cam in my LS2 surely would have worked but since I am changing displacement and power adders I went on the hunt for a good big cube turbo cam to match my setup and after much asking around (thanks Spin) I ended up getting a cam Brian Tooley spec'ed for me, 231/239 614/621 118+2.

I also picked up some FIC 1000cc injectors as I think I'll need more than the FIC 60#'ers I have been running for years. I'm looking forward to tuning them in. Thanks Jon.

The goal is 800RWHP on 14# or less of boost (I was running 14# on the ECS blower) and a race gas tune to try and make 900RWHP on <=20#.

I started prepping for yanking the engine last weekend and today Jeff (Inspector12) came over and helped me take it out.

So a little bit of waiting for engine parts to come back from machining. While I'm waiting I'll begin installing my EB2 boost controller, inspect my ACT twin clutch and torque tube.

Why pull the a/c compressor with the engine? You could have left it in the engine compartment charged with freon. I need to start pulling mine out before Spring arrives.

Actually I am very blessed to have the friends I do. People sometimes tell me I am the luckiest person on earth. I believe it. I must have done something really baller in my previous life

Bill you are one of those people who have always been there for me. I knew how badly you wanted to go Twin Turbo and opportunity came up with picture perfect timing! It was meant to be I can't wait for your car to get done and drag some behinds!

I think FD can do a bit more than just change the A/R in those turbos. I'd also inquire about wheel options.

Meh, didn't think about it much. There are two different AC lines for the '05's and one doesn't work with the TTIX kit although I'm not sure which one I have yet. Also I had been running some envirosafe stuff and wanted to go back to R-134. Lastly it seemed easier to just yank it all. I think it worked out best.

Plus I have the gauges and vacuum pump to recharge it myself when I'm done.

Thanks!

I may have let on more than Nouman wanted already so I'll keep the other stuff to myself. Something something 32 valve heads. Just kidding.

The wife was kind enough to agree to have her car sleep outside for a few months while this all goes on. Definitely not enough room for both our cars, two engines, turbo kit parts, etc. Next house will have a three car, that is my only stipulation.

scratch up some cash and put a TICK Master cyclinder in while you can, full length line! Unless you dont have any sticking clutch issues.

It's incredible what these exact same turbos (minus .82 housings) are capable of on a little 347 and A4 C5! Over 23psi of boost!

I could only imagine what your car will do! It will be a roll racing monster!

Awesome build, Bill. Thanks for the ECS Novi 1500 kit. It has found a good home. Best of luck on the new build and I am always good for bringing over beer and pizza.

Revision: Goal is to make more power than Mark (winters97gt) did with my old blower kit on his 402 with the same or less boost (~825 RWHP @ 12#).

Also don't forget, every time you push that clutch in to shift imma put 3 car lengths on you! So from 1st to 4th figure 9 cars before you see my brake lights lit up in far distance up ahead

Then imma strip the "BECAUSE RACECAR" sticker from your bumper and put it on mine
