I made 800rwhp with stock LS2 heads and cam. Not worth it with what you want to do.
I think I'd be happy with about 650ish I wanted to do cam just for obvious reasons....the sound was gonna install meth with SC but wen I told installer I would be doing full exhaust n cam then SC later he suggested head change!!!!
Not worth it IMO unless your building a fully forged engine and really want every last HP out of it. We have made over 800rwhp on stock LS2 heads.
thanks Doug means a lot coming from u....I will try to call u tomorrow....It was one of ur installation shops u referred me to but anyway I may just get u to help choose me one of ur cams n let a local shop install and tune till Im ready to SC decided Id rather do cam n exhaust first then SC
Tons of good blower cams out there. Make sure you pick at cam set up for your goals and what you want out of a car.
Very true! And a custom grind is always on the table as well. But out of the box I think the Night Fury will be hard to beat. At least for power/manners.
Winters, what cam are you running with your most recent setup?

Honestly, I had a big name cam called the "mayhem II" from a shop here in Houston. It has basically outperformed any name cam that I have seen here(minus the G5x4 and MS4). The G5X3-4 might be the best sounding cams, minus the Whiplash cam which is a 24x/25x on a 113lsa. I had it in my NA Z06. It was a very mean cam, sounded wicked at idle. EG tuned it well and it drove great, but I know the cam specs and it was too much for my wife. Eitherway, it wasn't the ideal blower cam for my car, but it has proven itself time and time again to make big gains on blower cars. I wanted a big split, a wide LSA on my own cam. The "Night Fury" is a tame cam compared to what a lot of guys run that are just very nasty and sound sick. I went the opposite route. Set the cam up to drive like a stock cam but make power. I've driven all the upper 220-230 blower cams on 114-116lsa's, but my cam on a 118+2 outdrives them all on my 402, and makes good power.
Again, never buy a cam based on name, buy it on specs, and what you want from your car. Dyno numbers are less than half the story.

Yea I think a lot of us have a lot to learn still. I don't have near your experience with different ls cams! I wanted an agressive sound without alot of the drivability issues I've seen from BIG cams. For me the night fury was a perfect fit

i looked at that same cam by EG loved the sound but didnt know how well it would work with SC and as a daily driver but with ur experience wat or who would u recommend
Once you start forcing air into these motors the head CFM difference between the LS2 and LS3 goes away. Like other have said, put the money into a cam, or just a smaller pulley

I don't know about that. At some point you need larger ports/valves. The COPO Camaros run LS7 heads. The LS7 block NA 7L, uses the LS7 head, of course, but the 5.3L(destroked LS9 aluminum block) runs the LS7 heads with a Whipple 2.9L and the LSX iron block 5.3L (same bore and stroke as the engine with the 2.9L blower) that has a 4L Whipple.
I know we're not talking about LS7 heads, but the LS7 head has larger ports/valves then the LS3 head, which has larger ports/valves then the LS2 head. At low horsepower, the blower will do just fine with the smaller LS2 heads, but with big power, the LS3 heads are beneficial and for really big power, the LS7 heads are the Boss.

EG has a cam that works well with blowers and is a little tamer than their bigger cam. All their cams make big power, even with blowers, but I just like a custom grind for my car.
