Seeking advice on Quatermasters new clutch...Optimun SR 10.4" twin billet clutch....The clutch will be replacing a RPS twin Street Carbon. New engine build currently in progress includes RHS/Dragon Slayer/diamond/Mast 274 heads/YSI/16psi/pump gas/triple Walbro 340 going in a '06Z. This clutch will be used mostly for STREET abuse with 10% strip action. Im trying to decided between the RPS triple Carbon and this Comp-Quartermaster clutch. The RPS Street twin has been fantastic for 10k miles of hard driving with 600rwhp but im gonna be out of the torque range of the rps twin. the QuarterMaster clutch is rated at 1400hp/1000tq.
Does anyone have any experience with QuarterMaster Clutches?
Thanks
I doubt you will find a lot of review on the QM on a z06. the RPS triple carbon is a good clutch. but expensive. I used to have it on my TT vette but switched to a DYAD twin disc with Tick Master Cylinder. it is working good on a friend's ~800whp F1R Z06 but we still didnt abuse it a lot. I am running the RPS BC3 on my Z06 and its a nice clutch for both street driving and racing but the DYAD feels like a stock clutch and holds as much power (rated at 1400TQ)
hopefully someone will chim in here with more experience. I have tried a lot of different clutches but never ran a QM on a corvette.
Mantic, Centerforce, Mcloud RXT all seem to be good that hold 800-1000rwhp.
yes I have driven one for over 500miles on a friend's fully built Evo 8. it was holding the power but drives like sh*t. he had a 8 leg race version. he says the street version is a lot better to drive around.
Thanks guys for your input.
I didnt want to hear the evo race clutch has poor street manners because i think the Optimun SR clutch is a race clutch ...Thanks for input Walhan_qtr
I have a few weeks to decided.
