Does anyone else have problems with their Procharger making a squeaking sound? It sounds like the belt on the pulley, but I have replaced it (the belt) and it stills squeaks. Any suggestions? Also, if anyone could send me a link on how to change the oil in the Procharger, it would be greatly appreciated.
Check alignment of the pulleys. Do you notice a lot of black belt dust? If the pulley's are aligned, switch to a GoodYear Gator back belt and make sure it is tensioned properly.
Do you have a quiet or "noisy" head unit? The head units that whistle may be what you hear but also make it harder to pinpoint the problem.
As Greg pointed out, the Prochargers are loud (Sound great IMO) and sometimes harder to isolate a noise. A stethoscope may help you isolate the noise. Other thing you can do is run it with no belt, just to make sure the noises are not coming from the blower. The tensioner could be shot as 4ever had suggested also.
As per the oil change directions. You will see a drain plug on the bottom of the unit, just about opposite your fill plug/dipstick. I'd let it drain for a bit if the car is cold to get all of the oil out of it. Then remove your top fill plug/dipstick and fill the unit. Pay attention to the bottom hashmarks on the dipstick, I try to keep most of them in the half to 3/4 range. Do you have the Procharger oil? If not pick some of that up that's what Procharger recommends and I'm sure is necessary for any warranty issues.
Thanks guys. It sounds more like what Euro said. I do notice alot of black belt dust. I actually just got done cleaning the engine bay. I really appreciate it. And I appreciate it Matt.
If you think it's a pulley, take about 12" of stock fuel hose and stick one end in your ear and use the other to listen to specific pulleys. I have found a few bad pulleys this way.
Get a spray bottle and spray a shot of water on the inside of the belt. If the noise quits immediately, it's a belt issue. Try the same on the outside of the belt.
If neither makes the noise quit, then it's a pulley or the blower.
The noise will come back right away but it will immediately identify the noise as belt related or bearing related.

Alright, I will try it as soon as I get home. What if its not the belt? Would it be okay to continue to run it? What would I be losing?
