Default Oil cooler options?

I have seen the B&M oil cooler and something similar with a fan on it.

anyone have any proven oil coolers that would fit on a Dry sump z06 setup in the fender behind where the foglight is? im going to pull the fog lights obviously but im trying to get the best oil cooling option.

I was thinking about using the Z51 oil cooler behind each fog lamp, Just never got around to it. Ended up just routing into the radiator.

Looks like DRM uses setrab 619 or 625s.

My first step is a factory z06 cooler with the ECS mounts to put it above the sway bar. If that doesn't work well enough I'll do the setrab in the foglight area.

David, Mounted my B&M with the fan. Its the smaller of the two B&M sells with the fan. Oil temps are great run about what my coolant does. 175-185. I mounted in infront of drivers side tire. GL!

Hmm. I'll have to ask them if we should use the track version since it's so darn hot in Phoenix.

Or just get a z06 cooler since it is way bigger and the whole setup is 1/2 to 1/3 the cost.

the Z06 Vs the z51 doesn't make that much difference.. a friend with a GS did the swap and it made a minimal difference.

I have that B&M cooler with a fan mounted in the wheel well for my transmission. The fogs remain in place and it works great. I assume it would work as well for oil.

I don't have my fog lights in place either. But the larger one fit, but when I installed my charge pipe it was not going to fit nice, so I went with the smaller one part #70298. So as long as your charge pipe isn't anywhere near the drivers side frame and the inner fender well you will be able to get the larger one in there. Bill got one about the size of the larger one B&M sells, but it was a lot cheaper somewhere, you'd have to ask him. You know Bill. He will shop and save money. But his doesn't run as cool as mine, but it does work etc... He's an Iron block as well. And to be fair I haven't seen to many ppls cars run as cool as mine even with an aluminum block. Dove it around all Friday in the heat with A/C on. It stayed around 194-198 through town. The oil stayed real close to it usually about 201-204 while stopped and would drop back to 197-198 when moving again. GL! Give me a ring if you have any questions for me.

David, the cooler I have is this one:
EMPI 00-9292-0 72 Plate VW, Sand Rail & Off Road Oil Cooler & Fan Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive EMPI 00-9292-0 72 Plate VW, Sand Rail & Off Road Oil Cooler & Fan Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive
although I got it cheaper somewhere else. It has more plates than the B&M and it's larger overall so theoretically it should cool better but I'm not seeing that although I'm fighting coolant temp issues which could be driving my oil up. My oil seems to track ~10-15 degrees higher than my coolant and my coolant easily gets to 220 so its not that great. But at least oil temps come back down now after a pull whereas before they would stay high.

Jeff and I were able to fab up some mounting for it fairly easily. Thought I had some pics on the interwebz but I can't find them.

Don't go chasing rainbows trying to get the temps Jeff sees. His car is a unicorn.

The B&M fits nicely in front of the wheel with no issues, as I am sure other coolers will.

We mount our oil coolers in front of the radiator. Yes if you have a big intercooler there it will require the cooler to be moved. I have put together DIY kits in the past to make it a one stop shopping experience.

The Stock Z06 setup is pretty big money. I just bought one for a LS7 we have in the shop that went south. Retail 697 cooler and 195 for the lines.

AZ+power= bigger cooler

My car is a Z51 car so it already has the baby version of the z0 one.

seems a lot of people have good results with the B&M piece.. where does your piece fit in a coupe front if there is an FMIC?

Base model LS3 car currently with no oil cooler. I have an A&A kit with an an intercooler. Also in AZ with 700rwhp. What would you recommend for me? I also do road course track days at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox Az. 2.75 mile track and 21 turns. Lots of elevation changes too. A real fun track.

I doubt you will ever get the car to run cool enough to road course it here when it is 100+ out. That is the downside to a centri on a car meant to be n/a.

For the z06 setup, buying new yes. I just got a cooler for $75 and already had the lines laying around. Even buying the lines new for $140 that is still a pretty cheap option, even if you pay $200-300 for a used cooler.
