Well now - look what I got in the mail today

I had been contemplating it since i installed the blower. Hopefully this will allow for a bit more timing to give me the bump I need to clear 600 to the wheels. I'm done at that point (mods for power wise) outside of looking for a nice set of drag rims & tires combo.

Ha, gotta love Texas, everyone has a 10 second daily driver, LOL. Plus, you get neighbors who can install their own FI.

Here in CA, driving a loud, FI'd car, people stare at you like you are landing a Klingon Warbird. And my "car guy" neighbor in CA has a 70's convertible bug.

Oh, and can't go wrong with a red Grand Sport.

Nice build. why not go with a good blower cam and turn the boost up? you can be in the mid to high 700s easy with no issues. plus u'll need the extra powa if you plan on being competitive for the Runway Rivalry.

LOL but ...TROOF!!!!

I can relate to the look on faces with a loud car --- as I'd be one of them. I despise loud cars wit ha passion. My car is quiet as a stock car and only loud when I'm on the loud pedal thanks to NPP. NPP is the next best thing to boost in my world
And while the VDub Bugs aren't too popular - the damn Ricer/Stance kids more than make up for it!

Oh, and can't go wrong with a red Grand Sport.
Except for the fact that every cop spots you a mile away - no matter what - you're speeding-according to them.

I'll most likely never do another cam'd car this lifetime. I put that (an after market cam) up there with me ever buying another manual trans car - just ain't happening LOL! Silky smooth idle and driving manners in all conditions with the stock cam - YES PLEASE
Also with it being a 6L80E equipped car, I'm not ready to build the tranny "yet" (barely got 20K miles on the car). I'm probably on borrowed time with the 600

This is Tejas ... Someone has and will spend more money than me. I'll never be very competitive in those events. It's all about "doing it" for myself as Lord knows I can't afford to drop the coin the top dogs at those events can/do. 90% of those guys are Check Book racers - I'm building this crap in my 2 car garage at home all by my lonesome. I'm happy just to be at an Event - forget ever winning one LOL!

A good blower cam should drive close to a stock cam.

Default More Goodness

I got in the garage for a "bit" on Thursday in order to layout the Alky Control kit.
It's not a very complicated install but it is involved - with the Corvette being such a limited access platform. Along with the Alky kit containing it's fair share of parts that spread out among various places.
Anyhow, once I figured where I would route/place everything I started on getting myself some access to the inner fender. Took off the top, bottom and inner screws of fender and used the "box" method I've seen posted here previously. Marked, drilled, installed pump and plate:

I got the intake loosened and lifted up to install the IAT but got discouraged because it nor the MAP had shown up by then.
I ordered the 3 Bar Map, IAT and Caspers harness the same day I ordered the Meth kit. Caspers came from Summit and was at my door the 2nd day . Alky kit about 8 days from FSP. The forkin' IAT and MAP I ordered from a dealership out Arizona and I didn't get them until yesterday afternoon! It took close to 14 days for them to get those items to me. I'll never order from them again.

Another item that came in (unrelated to the ALky kit) was my Billet Tech Alternator

The heat/humidity that is Caliente Houston Tejas necessitated the upgrade for my electrical systems health.

Ha, GM does hide that windshield res pretty far down in there.

And those Billet-Tech alts are worth getting just for the looks.

Yeah, there is only so much under hood real estate on these damn cars. I guess GM didn't have many options for placement. On the bright side, it is a pretty large reservoir.
The Billet casing is nice to look at but at $540 for an alternator - performance is factor I value most LOL

Been working in earnest the past couple nights getting the alky kit installed. I really wish there were a longer Cat5e cable included. Since I already have a pair pair of relays, wires and associated wire on the passenger side near the battery. I decided to install the Alky kit relay on the drive side near the coolant tank. That allowed for me to put Pin 30 of the relay directly to the alternator lug.

I tucked the MAP sensor near the brake booster and all wires come inside the same hole I have for my wideband and vacuum line to boost gauge.

Tapped the side of the intake for the IAT

Once all the wiring was complete & electronics were tucked away I swapped alternators

If I can muster some energy this evening, I'm going to give the interior a thorough cleaning - followed by a good polish/wax of the exterior. Dyno is set for Friday afternoon with ole Matt Soriano of FSP.

No Sir ... ECS restriction plate still in place - a little under 9# over atmospheric pressure.

Nice! So that's the pressure you're seeing with the untouched restrictor and full exhaust? You still have the stock npp correct?

I drilled a pair of 3/8" holes into the perimeter of the restriction plate. So not totally untouched - but nothing major. NPP is exactly as Chevrolet built it.

I asked Doug about modifying the restrictor since mine has full exhaust and a cam, but not too aggressive and I also have a full 3" exhaust with zr1 mufflers. I haven't installed the kit yet since I'm currently deployed, but basically he said that ever 1/16 removed from the inside diameter equals about 1 psi.

Btw, I was just thinking about the title of this thread. Can you imagine what the wait is doing to me? LOL

You young whipper snappers complaining about deployment when y'all have / get HOT meals, A/C in barracks, Cell & video phones along with internet access
Man- like I tell my little sister (she's got 18 in with the Army now) - take you back to 87 - 90 (when I was in) and you'd think you went back to the stone age, LOL!
