Default 2" Header guys, need your feedback

So im going to be doing a set of long tubes in the next couple months. My eventual power goals are in the 8-900whp range (for a 200mph standing mile) so im looking at the 2" headers as my best option. My question is of the manufacturers out there that offer a 2" header do either of them have better fitment or build quality? Any known issues?

Thanks
Steve

1 7/8 are sufficient to make over 1000. Are they ideal and the most efficient, probably not. But I'm not an engineer so I'm just guessing on the second part. I have 1 7/8 on my car that is over 1000.

This is the kind of information I am after. If there are going to be fitment issues with a 2" primary when the 1 7/8" will work and fit nicely then im leaning on the 1 7/8" option.

Thanks

I made 1048rwhp easy on 1 7/8. That was off charts rich AFR and low timing, air filter and dongle on. I'm swapping to 2" right now. For 800-900 I would just get some 1 7/8" ARH headers. They will make that power easily.

I had to ding in #2 primary to get the ARH to fit but Steve said that isn't correct so he is just sending me a new header that will fit without touching anything. The passenger side you need to drop the cradle to get past the bell housing/etc while my 1 7/8" went in no issue so install is a bit more of a pain.

I just bought kooks 2" headers since they were cheapest. Made 937whp on a 1 7/8" set of Chinese obx headers, but figure between size and quality I'll pick up some power.

Kooks are a bit cheaper than the ARH, but I really like the long primarys on the ARH. I think that is worth some power.

Yea, I've just heard issues from almost all people I've talked to online and in person about arh (surprisingly) and kooks have all gotten good comments on fitment. After my obx headers worked so well I stopped caring so much about slight differences between the big companies, so even if it gives up a few hp I'm ok with that.

Yep, it was second primary not first. I know here's another C6 with same ARH's and fitment issue.

ARH said that isn't normal and will send me one that fits without having to do that. I'm waiting on that to show up.

I think the Kooks and AR are the same size primaries runner lengths. The LG are the longer ones.

I switched from AR 1 7/8 to 2 inch and there was more clearance on the 2 inch ones. I did not have to dimple the runner and I have 3/8 inch clearance. The 1 7/8 was really close, And I did not dent either.

Actually my ARH have longer primarys than the LG 1 7/8" I have. Not sure if the LG 1 3/4" are longer or what but I have both side by side in the garage right now and it is very noticable how much longer the ARH 2" are over the LGs.

Please keep us posted on this. Im wondering if its a batch issue. Did you get the first set of the 2" from a vendor or directly from AR?

I'm trying to order my ARH 2" right now as well. Switched away from the LG 1 7/8". I wish someone would offer these headers with V-bands. What is up with all this crappy flange designs. I think Pfadt offered V-bands, but everyone else is either slip-fit, 2 bolt floating flanges, etc... Baffles me.

Vbands have little to no adjustment for car variation which leads to headers fittings like crap. If you want, once they are installed you could have vbands installed but then I wouldn't want to install them on another car.

ARH sent me a new header. Should be here any day. Talked to a buddy trying to put some kooks on and he said they fit like crap. 2" kooks on a c6z.
