Megasquirt. Say what you will but megasquirt just plain works.
That it does, was just telling a fellow the other day to run a MegaSquirt on his mustang that he is doing a budget build on. He was worried that it wasn't a good unit, and explained to him that its a very good unit. Just comes down to how good the person is that is keying in the data.
Likely not really the forum for BS3 users, most of the high HP cars on here are still running factory ECU's. (Not all but most) Since its pretty easy to tune factory GM stuff to 1000,1200,1400hp.
For dealing with stand alone ECU's you may want to check out forums where the heads up racing guys hang out, such as www.yellowbullet.com That is a site that stand alone ECU's, and 2,000+ HP are pretty common place.
Also take a look at what other mile racing guys are running, and safety systems they have in place. Boost back down, EGT back down, etc.
There are a ton of BS users on this forum. Camaro 5 is probably the capitol of BS users.
Ohh, big stuff, not ********. My bad.
Any of the systems are only as good as the person tuning them. Get whatever you have a really good local tuner for, or whatever you want to take the time to learn if you are going to do it yourself.

-its the one still winning most of the races.
-very easy to set up and use
-my comfort level is high coming from using it on my last car
-it can do everything i need it to do, in one box
on the coil concern. i have seen the holley box and others struggle to get a handle on COP as well. i have had no trouble with the ls1 coils or either of the truck coils to date.
i am not really a bs3 'fan' i actually am quite frustrated at the upgrade costs and tech support. hard to argue when its the sticker down the side of the winning cars tho..
not sure about streetability comment. i drove my t/a for 40k miles with bs3, however the level of integration with the stock stuff, especially newer stock stuff i agree with the struggle and not wanting to lose some nice things like heads up etc. thats why im running both computers..
Run it on my F-body as well. No real issues with it at all pretty simple and strait forward to understand and operate. The software is like playing PONG lol! But who cares it works. I went with Pro EFI on the C6Z because at the time there wasn't a ton of options and it had a ton of features. Cons are Tech support SUCKS! Chris Delgato ROCKS LOL! I do almost all my own work and this was no different, but they give you 1.5 single sided pages of pin outs with no real description of what each is capble of. For reference the BS3 came with a book lol. But after a two week install making about 3 harnesses, Mainly for a super clean install and trouble shooting future upgrades or problems. Pro EFI does work great. Other cons the flash procedure sucks for the regular guy Chris of course has the tuner version of the PCM and does real time for almost everything vs just tuning with the standard one etc... GL with what ever your doing.
