I have the dashlogic and about to toss on an ECS kit. My car is an 06 c6z. Would my car not read the zr1 sensor for boost like the newer cars would?

Some years computers are pretty limited on which sensors they can accept the settings for. '05 for example uses an E40 computer that cannot accept a negative offset value

Not sure on yours, but unreal will know

(regardless of which you use, the computer will need to be told what you're using)

You can google "ls1 2.5 bar map sensor" and the first result is a place you can buy a 2.5 bar sensor that will work with just about anything. Not sure I can post the link since they aren't a vendor

You need a 2.5 bar map, not the zr1 map. Just a different part, works the same though.

I think using a GM part where you can get the right data from an existing tune makes life easier.
As Unreal said, a 2.5 bar fits with no headaches.

Using a GM sensor on an E40 ECM isn't really an option if you want it to read boost and be accurate. E40's have too many limitations

And, data is readily available for this sensor.. the 2.5 bar MAP sensors that DPE sells actually use this sensor

(not to mention it's just two values that you need to make it work.. not hard to figure out if you had to)

Well if that's the case it sure is an inexpensive solution. Good to know.

You have to install this into a MAP sensor housing.. so you have to rip an old MAP sensor apart to install this, but still, you can find those on ebay for $15 for ones that will work. I have one coming on Monday to try to play with

Here's where I found the idea:

check out posts at the end.. package gets "simpler" as the thread goes on

LOL... I guess I just have more money than time. I wouldn't have the patience for that. I actually need one and am just getting it for Dave Steck.

I almost just went ahead and bought one, so I know what you mean there, lol

BUT, I figure the sensor is like $16 and an old MAP sensor I found on ebay for $10.. so for $26 it'd give me a small project and maybe save me $100. or cost me $26 if I screw something up.

Either way, not a huge deal. I like doing stuff like that though. If I didn't have time I'd just order one too

Little plug for Dave here. He sells the 2.5 bar for 85.00 and the 3 bar I think is 100.

Ah. Did not know that. I would have just ordered one if I had known

Oh well. I already have the parts here or on the way now, so I'll give building one a shot first

Thanks for the heads up though

Did a little cheapo eBay MAP sensor hacking up last night. Would be a lot easier the second time.. I think I'd just stick it on a belt sander to wear away the top half of the case if I were doing it over again. Wasn't sure how it was constructed until I got it pretty well opened up

Does anyone know if there's any kind of port on the back of these sensors that needs to remain open?

I'm hoping not and can't find anything in the data sheets stating otherwise but still wasn't sure
