Default ProEFI with e40

I've been thinking about this for quite a while and might be going ahead with it if I'm able to find answers.

Has anyone done ProEFI on an e40? Was the e38 harness used and modified or you need to do the whole thing again? It would be nice if the e38 harness can be modified to work with e40.

--Thanks

the adapter harness wont work for the E40. it needs to be spliced and use the LS1 firmware.have done one over here.

I know the pins themselves are different between E38 and E40, so I don't expect you'll have much luck making the E38 harness work.

Every post I've seen from vendors about installing this on an E40 said they would do it with flying leads, not the E38 harness.

So what you are saying, you can re-use the e38 harness but you would need to splice it and get it to work. This is what I was expecting and what I would like to do.

Care to provide more information or details? If I send you an e38 harness, would you be interested in making it work on e40 for me? I know you are an Official ProEFI dealer and they recommended your shop.

I hope that this is not the case. I think it can work but you would need to do some work on it. I would prefer to do that instead of starting from scratch.

I'm not telling you I think the pins are different.. I'm telling you they ARE different. I have both sitting in the trunk of my car.

I'm pretty sure he was saying you need to splice it in and not use the e38 harness. Maybe there's some other way of doing it I don't know about.

I know the pins are different man

I'm just hoping that the e38 pnp harness can be somehow re-used/modified/spliced into to make the ecu work with the e40. I'm just trying to see if buying it with the ECU will make the job easier or not.

the flying lead is not expensive about 450-500$ , labor would be around 1600-2000$ plus tuning.

Default Proefi builds

We have done both a Procharged C6 a4 on flex fuel and DBW and recently a c5 408 E-force flex fuel DBC conversion. The C6 is pushing the 850hp mark and the C5 800hp mark.
