Are you referring to the parameters? Or the possible meth leak? I changed and corrected everything as far as the tuning goes.

The thing is that it started happening again yesterday where the weather temps rose up above 73*f. Today they are even warmer and it has done it worse. Once the engine starts the IAT temps are 135-150*! Also the afrs hover around 16-17s for a couple of seconds. So it's definitely heatsoaked imo.

That would be the right direction.. if it thinks the air is hotter than it really is, then it would think there's less oxygen, so it would inject less fuel, and voila, lean condition.

The problem is I'm not sure there's a way to correct for it that wouldn't screw up fueling once it cools back down.

I had this happen once or twice on very hot days now that I think about it.. I usually see 120-130 but I very rarely restart after 30 minutes to an hour (which seems like when it'd be the worst..). Usually mine sets for 3-4 hours at a time.

That's why I mentioned the AFRs. Mine is getting heatsoaked pretty bad. My little brain tells me that there's no way the temps in the charge pipe once the throttle blade is shut are nowhere were they sit at now after a having the engine runing. If that was the case we would have the same issues when the iat is integrated at the maf, which is closer to the radiator. At least that's what I think.

I may just disconnect the meth line and see if that makes any difference. Why do you think this happens? Also, if meth was in fact seeping, don't you think that the wb would should a rich condition right when it happens? I've been seeing the opposite.

My thinking is just a little vapor inside the manifold/charge pipe is enough to cause it. Probably just a little from the line or nozzle. I think high underhood temps make it more likely, and I wouldn't expect you to be able to see it.

As for the wideband, I don't think they're accurate on initial startup. I've been down that road.

On my old car, the only way I found to improve the situation was to massively remove cranking fuel or hold the throttle wide open to activate flood mode. It shouldn't fire up with the pedal to the floor (from my understanding), but my car did. Pretty sure the meth was providing the fuel it needed.

I also think keeping the reservoir full is going to make it worse, as it's probably more likely to siphon. That's my theory. I'd disconnect and plug it as a test.

Hmmm that sounds plausible then. The temps are going down again so it'll be hard to prove if it's heatsoaking or not. Thank you.

Hey, I could be wrong but it's worth a shot. I know my car was definitely worse when it was hotter, but it would still happen to some extent at cooler temps. Getting it to operating temp and then shutting it down for a few hours usually did the trick.

Like you, my first thought on that car was the IAT sensor I had in the manifold. Thankfully, that was easy to test and eliminate as a cause since I had a plug & play breakout harness. Did the same thing with the stock sensor. A bunch of trial and error later, I came to the meth conclusion.

I honestly think the same thing is happening on my current car. Never had any startup issues after installing the Heartbeat blower and using the included ZR1 IAT sensor along with the proper data. Drove it on straight pump gas for about 9 months and no problem. But since installing my Alky kit at the beginning of the year, the hot weather heat soak startup issues have reared their ugly head. It's never not started, but it'll do the occasional start & stumble that's a little irritating. The way it acts (i.e. inconsistent) makes me think it must be meth related when it happens. Isn't bad or often enough for me to really worry about it though.

I should test mine doing what you did since I have the breakout harness as well. I decided to try something else I was just thinking about today. I'm not foing to say what I did until I can confirm if that made any change to the start up issues. Like I said the weather temps are lower right now, so it's hard to test the heat soaking part. I may just have to let the engine run for a while in the garage and close the door afterwards. Maybe I can reproduce the conditions or symptoms.
