Default Need wideband help

I plan on installing a PLX WB with the latest 4.9 sensor for my A&A boosted 2008 LS3 with stock NPP exhaust w/cats, now 4 cats with the recall. (No headers).

1. Where is the best location to install the sensor/bung and how far downstream? I read before the cats, but the cats are next to the exhaust manifolds. PLX recommends the top of the exhaust at a 15* angle facing downstream.

2. Which bank? I am assuming bank 1 for easier access under the dash.

3. Where are you guys installing the gauge? I'm not a fan of the pillar gauge and might have to bite the bullet and get Dash Logic or now Dash Control unit to view through the DIC.

Appreciate any suggestions,

Thanks.

It has to be before the cats or it will be useless

There is room to put it before them.. I had an exhaust shop install a new O2 bung (I'm using Z06 manifolds which are the tighest I've seen). They did it with the manifolds on the car, no problem, on the driver side manifold. It took maybe 20 minutes and cost me $40. I've ran mine non stop for 6 months without any issues.

I'll try to find some pictures later, but I'm not sure I have any

This isn't my car but here is a picture I found when researching adding another O2 bung. I think this is on a C5 but C6's are similar.. there's enough space to add another bung before the cats, you just have to get it in the right place.

Are you running stock manifolds or something else?

on the Z06 manifolds you have to cut some of the heat shield out of the way, then it's simple enough to weld a bung in

Stock LS3 manifolds with oem NPP exhaust.

Thanks for the pictures.

I don't remember if LS3's come with LS2 style cats/manifolds or more of the Z06/ZR1 style.

For LS2 style manifolds you can put the WB sensor in the opening to the catalytic converter.

It's not very in the picture but if you look real close you can see I circled in red the area that will work. I ran mine like this for the better part of a year. I was weary of it getting the sensor too hot.. but it seemed to work just fine

Sorry to bump a very old thread but this is very helpful to me as I am going to add a Wideband to my Z06 exhaust manifold and this was extremely helpful -

Perhaps it will help someone else who is still using Z06 manifolds and going F/I and needing to place a Wideband -

Thanks,Matt
