OK, I have to ask this seemingly stupid question; if I install a s/c what happens with my auto insurance? I have an umbrella policy and wouldn't want to be voided if I blew a tire and crashed in to a buss full of nuns...and they discovered the mods.
All insurance policies state that any modifications must be reported. Technically if not reported the policy could be voided due to breach of contract.
Now someone will come in and say they didn't report mods and had no problems getting paid.
I guess it depends how lucky you feel......
It's playing the odds. My premium went up by 50% when I told them. I switched companies and decided for the amount of time the car is driven I will chance the fact that I did not say my car was turbocharged. Any body work should still be covered as it is basically stock. If the engine gets damaged I doubt I would get the money required to rebuild like it is today anyway.

Why play the odds when you can have coverage that accounts for the mods? We insure some super modified cars, even with nitrous. Many companies stay away from nitrous.
If you have an accident, you will have the modifications replaced vs stock parts.

Phoenix insurance in Dallas has mine on a stated value policy through Grundy. It's not very expensive either if it's classified as a recreational vehicle and not a daily. They also do track policies now, even for airfield events. Those cars are heavily modified.
Adam @ NCM helped me out with the policy on my Z06. It was the only insurance company that called my built motor 1000hp Vette with nitrous "awesome" haha.
The agreed value policy I have with them helps me sleep well at night. You can not daily drive the car but I never did anyhow. Here is what I was told was "ok". Maybe Adam can touch on this.
-Car shows, meets, and club events
-Normal cruising around within a set yearly mileage limit
-It is covered while traveling on a trailer, even when going out of town and staying at a hotel
-Stopping at the convenience store when you need to pick up milk on your way home is still ok
-Driving with the lady to get ice cream
What you can't do is do things like drive to work or leave it sitting in a movie theater parking lot on a date night.
