Help build a Short Block
Thinking in the way future:
Let's build a boosted LS3 with forged internals, 9-10 psi. looking for 600-625hp, no meth, full Z06 exhaust on a base, manual coupe. Spirited driving only, no track use.
Let's keep it simple: Choose option and why?
1. 376 or 416 short block. Any additional heat issues with stroked
block?
2. What compression ratio would you run with 91 octane: 9.75, 10, or
10.7.
3. Heads: Stock LS3 or LS3 CNC
4. Cam must pass smog and idle like stock: Stock or Lingenfelter's
GT2-3 207/220 571/578 118 CL.
3. Pick an engine builder: ERL. LME or Livernoise?
Thanks for any input!

Stock block should hold that for a long while.
If you really want to you can do pistons and rods, but at that point I would probably just have it built locally since its not a radical build.
Also you can run e85 for extra safety net. Then throw Meth on top of that if your paranoid.

Do you have an engine already? What is it, how many miles, etc. If 600 is your goal, the stock LS3 pistons, rods, crank, everything is good. IF you need to rebuild your current LS2 or LS3 because of miles or whatever, you can keep the crank, and just do rods and pistons. 10:1 is totally fine. Stock heads are more than solid at this power level, almost anyone's stage one blower / turbo / dope cam (I personally like BTR / Comp Cam). Do it local, you certainly have good shops.

Just throw some rods and pistons in it if something's broke. If it's not broke then leave it alone.

Wiseco Piston
Compstar rods
Stock crank
Custom cam from me (if I'm still tuning it)

That's pretty much what I'll do if mine ever goes

Its real similar to the motor in my own car except I used an LSA block over an LS3, Ultra H beams over Compstars and a Dragonslayer 3.625 crank instead of stock. My ultimate power goals were much higher then the OP though even though it sits at 850whp as is.
For 650whp no reason to spend there extra.
