Passed this summer with what I knew were borderline valve guides. I had planned to do it at the shop, but decided my favorite time wrench is when I have nothing to do at home, so I'm dong it in my garage.
Started at 10 am and the heads are basically ready to come off. I am just too lazy right now to lift the car and undo the bottom header flanges. Maybe for once a winter project will last more than a week or two.
Happy to see that upon close inspection, the rockers, pushrods, wipe patterns, etc, are all perfect. 4 or 5 seasons on these comp rockers and they are like new. Happy about that.
Check out my homemade tray for keeping rockers and parts in the right place. Should I consider offering these for sale on the forum ???
Oh boy, realcanuk is at it again, ripping that poor car apart, just to put it back together again!
He's almost worse than schpenxel...
That tray is definitely a contender for the most creative use of duct tape award. Is that you, Red Green??
Spent a few hours preparing things for reassembly. Cleaned decks, header flanges, and everything else I could think of. Chased and blew out head bolt holes, etc. Should get heads back in a week or two, and winter project will be finished by holidays. LOL
Im sure you will find something else to do before winter is over since we all know how Canada winters are...
What did you use to clean up the wiring harness? It looks nice
Thanks. I removed those big plugs to the coil harness, spliced everything directly, and wrapped them with......... wrap. LOL... Don't remember exactly what its called. Just wiring harness cover stuff.
Just braided wire sleeve. Cheap and easy to get off amazon. Just ordered a bunch to touch up wiring on my car. Going to run new thicker grounds/power cables for fun.
Amazing how a well cared for car that isn't on 10K mile oil changes with M1 5w30 can hold up quote well even at higher hp levels.
I am convinced that although every manufacturer can have a certain percentage of defective product, most cases are poor installation or poor maintenance. But.... that's a topic for another time.
