Default Melling high Pressure vs high Volume!

Found some threads from past years but did not find anything clear & many of the times where someone includes the pump on their mod list they don’t state which one it is.
My question is, which pump is better for a Cammed Single Turbo set up? I would suppose the higher pressure oil pump would be better, but i think the higher volume comes with a spring to make it higher pressure?

I run the high pressure.. 12095 if I remember right. That is the recommendation of my engine builder. If not a stock engine it depends on the clearances.

I went with the Lingenfelter high volume pump(comes with high presure spring that I didn't use) and it produces 60psi at idle cold, 70+ at rpm cold and stays in the 40+ at idle warmed up and 60+ at rpm warmed up(these #'s are nearly double what stock motor/oil pump were putting out)... LS2 with very tight clearances upon last build... Oil cooler built into Dewitts radiator... 5/30 royal purple

I believe I have a melling high volume oil pump laying around somewhere in garage with dyno only time... lost a lifter and created havoc in a brand new motor... put that lingenfelter pump in during latest engine build... if your willing to clean it up and chance it, would re-home it for shipping cost only, ha

I'm using the Melling 10296 with the higher pressure spring.

I'm running 10295 with the lower pressure (stock?) spring. SBE LS2 w/cam, no oil pressure issues. Pretty much the same as stock, maybe a little higher. No issues

I pretty much run the 10295 hi pressure standard volume pump in my builds. I've read the hi volume version can potentially empty the oil pan to low levels on extended runs.....

Curious what others have to say!

I’m running the 10296 HP/HV with an extra half-quart in the sump. I now see ~75psi at 6500+ RPM, whereas the stock pump only made around 60psi at the same RPM. This is with Mobil 5W-30 oil. Obviously, if you’re running sustained RPMs, the oil may not be able to drain back sufficiently to keep up with the hi-volume pump. But, then again, if you’re running sustained high RPMs, you should probably be running a dry-sump system anyhow.

EDIT: As far as I recall, the extra spring that comes with the high volume pump is for a lower bypass pressure, not higher.
