Default Another ECS/e85 build thread

Last year I bought a 2006 Corvette Z06 that already came with PRC 285 heads, LS7R cam, LG headers, X pipe, intake, and B&B fusion exhaust. I bought the car in Texas and drove it 1200 miles back home to Wisconsin all in one day. At that time it was making mid 550whp but a few months later I wanted more power. So I ordered the ECS supercharger kit, with the novi 1500 supercharger and Bosch 1000cc injectors. McLeod RXT Street Twin Clutch, dsx flex fuel kit, and ecs stage 1 e85 fuel system. Here are some pictures of where we are at with the build so far. MY goal is somewhere around 750whp when it's all said and done.

All the parts barely fit in the car.

Holy hot spots!

Was in worse shape than I imagined.

Holy hot spots

Installing the ECS Fuel system

We had to relocate the A1000 fuel pump above the exhaust.

It was shocking to see how bad the stuck clutch was, with so much life left in it. What we have left is to complete the flex fuel system and put the blower in. Plan on using an AEM flex fuel wideband failsafe gauge to monitor ethanol%, boost and AFR as well as used for data logging and as a fail safe case the car goes lean.

Looks good... should be a fun build. I am a little surprised the fuel pump is so close to the exhaust though.

Yea I was also a little concerned about the pump being so close to the exhaust. We plan on putting some heat shield insulation on the muffler, although there is a couple inches of gap and mufflers only get up to 300, maybe 400 degrees, and it's exposed to a ton of air. Also the pump is running on a Hobb switch therefore it would be off for majority of my driving.

I would be happy to send you picks of the install of our fuel system, that is not where the pump belongs. You can also go onto our website for the instructions too, that's probably easier.

Your build is going to be awesome though, congrats!! Email us anytime if you have any questions along the way.

May want to ditch the b&b exhaust before it self destructs.

Over the weekend the Blower was installed, the fuel system was complete. Next is to install the AEM gauge and put the exhaust back on and take it to LMT(Late model throttle) up here in Wisconsin.

Mock up of the intake hoses. Not all the brackets are on

Looks great? You should sell that LS7 shortblock while you can ha ha.

The pistons are the weak link, then cylinder liners if tune isnt spot on. Rods and crank do alright upwards of 800hp. I would sell it and sink the money into a forged roatating assembly and a sleeved LS2 block. Or step down to a LS3 stock bore and forge that. Wont need the extra cubes with boost.

I agree with Roastin300... I'm in the process now (I have the A&A T-trim kit) of compiling parts for a build on mine. it just wants to make so much power that the block is really at risk, even with very conservative timing. Did you do methanol as well? I'm very excited to switch over to flex fuel on the new motor when it's all said and done to get that extra stability! It's going to be a fun ride!

I understand the concerns about boosting an LS7 and I've also had those same concerns. My tuner was spot on with the tune, its on very conservative tune, 630 on 93 and 680 on e85 at 6psi of boost. The car has been finish for about a month and I've put about 2500 miles on it. Only hickup was this past weekend when I let my friend borrow the car and he broke an axle, put c5z axles in the car and its back up and running. I rarely do any WOT unless it's on e85 as well. My plans for it is to do an LSX 427 block and sell my LS7 or keep the LS7 for future projects. Either that or resleeve the block and put better forged internals.

Nice build!! Looks great. Where did you get the c5z axles? How hard are they to swap?

If you have a 06/07 Z then it's a direct swap.

I understand the concern with these motors and the thin walls and pistons. I have a h/c D-1 e85 car that will be making around 800hp this week.

i think that you going with e85 absolutely helps. There are tons of 750rwhp guys running 93. E85 will provide a much cooler burn that will help with detonation and provide a “safer” option for your motor. Also with the heads and cam it will make much more efficient power not having to turn that blower so hard to make more.
