If you were doing it again. Where would you stop?

I jumped pretty deep in the rabbit hole. Worked with lots of shops and spent a lot of time and cash. 100% would do it again for the friends and memories you make. Just keep in mind a budget and be prepared to replace more parts than you can imagine.
Also plan your builds, get a lot of opinions and understand that a 1000+hp car will never work like the OEM vehicle.

I'm at about the 1000-1100 hp level and its fun, but every hit is a potential for broken parts. As they break you upgrade them and move to the next weakest link.
The 600-750HP range will always be the most fun because its fairly reliable, enjoyable and plenty of other cars to mess with and have fun.
I probably wouldn't stop if I did it again as I always wanted a 1k HP C6 and now I have one. I'm building a Foxbody mustang now in order to enjoy more of a drag racing setup

I planned my build every step of the way since the day I bought the car. Started with a cam and I knew I was going turbo so I bought a turbo grind cam and installed Zr1 head gaskets and better head bolts, upgraded valvetrain hardware, etc. I skipped on headers and CAI and any other mods I knew would be obsolete once I went F/I. Now I'm on the final lap of a twin turbo build and I'm still planning out my drivetrain and suspension purchases for the next two years. If I ever run out of things to do it's because I rolled the car on a road course somewhere. Gotta feed the beast.

I stopped at 850whp and with the other upgrades the car has ( Clutch, ZR1 TR6060, Fuel System, Torque Tube upgrade, Suspension) I think that was a good place to stop ion the C6 platform. If I was only going to change minor things like a clutch to hold the power and leave all else stock besides boost and bolt ons I would stop about 650whp. It all depended on how you use it. I have found that over 850whp is where the cars start to break things frequently if run hard. If the car is a C6 ZR1 then 1000whp is where I would stop.

Melting Slicks
750rw to 800rw with a twin turbo kit was fun, reliable, and not too expensive. It would be nice to experience that combination again because the car was always available for a drive or race event.

Original plan was cam, headers, basic 1500 kit and boost-a-pump.
Im now sitting on ECS 1500, Fore fuel, Monster clutch, RPM diff, built motor, DeWitts radiator, Welds... etc. My only regret was not going bigger on the blower to begin with. My advice? Either set a hard stop on where you’re going, or embrace the suck and dive head first down the rabbit hole, you’re going to wind up there anyway.

No matter how much power your car makes you will always get used to it and want more it's the nature of the beast if it's not broke fix it till it is there will always be somebody faster. I have spent a small fortune over the last 35 years building extremely high horsepower motorcycles cars and Diesel trucks. I built every one of them to the point of being undrivable on the street.
The secret of life, enjoy your car and don't worry about somebody being faster, if it's fast enough for you to enjoy without a pit crew or chase vehicle.
To your question I'm at 755 with a forged bottom end and that's where it's staying.

No matter how much HP you have there will always be someone else with more.
I think 600rwhp is very streetable and reliable.
It really depends on how much you can hide from the wife...lol

The build used to be a stock internals, cammed, LS2 with an ECS 1500, direct drive, stage 1 fuel, clutch, methanol injection, headers, full exhaust and supporting mods. Made 760 whpr
.
Now, it is LME Dart Next II 427, ECS custom twin turbo, PTE 6466s, makes 880 whpr on wastegate (10 lbs), made 1081 whpr at 15 lbs. Still in the process of turning it up but there is a lot left in it.
In hindsight, I should have stopped at a stock cube built motor, 1000 whpr. It would have been the best of all worlds. My car is not really driveable on the street on anything other than wastegate and my R888s and, even then, the car blows the tires off at triple digit speeds. I am just not going to run around on the street with my MT 275/60/15s.

I used to think that 600 hp at the wheel would be sufficient enough for the street, now I think 1000 would probably be an acceptable amount. .Now I am used to riding Superbikes, doing almost 100 in 1st gear and having another 5 to go is kind of addicting. After taking a spill while riding on the back wheel only, it would behoove me tone it down a bit . Been down a few times, had friends that were killed, maybe the vette is safer for some of us HP addicts ??
